Chapter 9.

"So, what brought you here? I realize it's a ridiculous question, but you're obviously here to read."

Luke asked, then realized it was a silly question. They are both sitting in a library corner. Cassie, on the other hand, spent her time thinking of an answer.

"Well, I've been coming here since I was 15 and discovered that it provides a sense of calm that I enjoy, as well as the smells of the papers. "

"That explains it. I'd like to apologize for how I responded to you the other day; it was unkind of me to act in that manner and disturb your peace." On a more serious note, he said.

"Well, I admit you did interrupt my solitary, " she chuckled, "But everything is under the water now." Luke now smiled, and his eyes sparkled.

"I know you're not going to question why I'm in the Library, but to tell you the truth, you're not the only one who shares the same interest."

"Well, it's none of my business and the library is not mine to forbid you to go." she said bluntly.

"Oh, don't be so serious, Cassie, I'm just lightening the mood." It was unusual that a stranger was calling her by her nickname. Only her closest friends and relatives can call her that, but this guy she met had the audacity to utter it without blinking.

"I'm not in the mood to converse, so I'll get going. And I hope you'll be able to locate a new spot the next time you come here. " And she was gone in an instant.

Did that redhead lady just walk away like that? He didn't get a chance to ask where she was studying or for her phone number. He has no understanding why this woman continues to ignore him. And it makes drawing her attention difficult for him.

Cassie arrived home tired. Meeting Luke was unexpected. As she noticed, the guy was arrogant and even addressed her by her nickname. She had a feeling that Luke was attempting to gain her favor, which she thought was unnecessary. She knows the guy affected her, and she wonders if it was only his cologne that sent her back to those good times of her childhood.

She's now in her bed, still thinking about Luke; she can't stop wondering where he lives, and from the way he looks, it's clear he's came from a wealthy neighbor. He's wearing excellent clothing, including pants, shirts, and a gold watch. My mother always claimed that rich people are entitled and believe they can have it all. After a few hours of lying in her bed, she finally fell asleep.

Luke arrived home. It feels quite empty without Nate, and of course, his father is always gone. He is on a business trip, and the last time he left a voice mail, he was enjoying work and relaxation in Hawaii.

The house is quite huge, and he is the only one who stays there now. "Lilly?" he calls, attempting to call on their maid to bring him some warm lemonade. He tried calling again, however his voice was echoing. A rustle was heard just from the kitchen, and Lilly reached him, still looking exhausted from doing something he assumed.

"Yes, Luke? What can I do for you?" she replied.

"I'd like some warm lemonade, please, and could you bring it over to my bedroom? It's been a long day today. " He said, his gaze fixed on the deserted halls of their home.
"Of course, Luke, I'll be right up," she said as she walked away to the kitchen.
