Chapter 16.
Cassie is now inside Luke's car, freezing, it is almost wintertime she is still wearing his jacket, and she smelled that cologne that made her feel strange.
"Cassie, I'm very sorry; are you okay?" He touched her cheek to make sure she didn't have a fever; just seeing her like this made him so frustrated that he doesn't understand why. Cassie's face looks flushed, which alarms him. Cassie's tears poured, and she sobbed again, releasing the agony and shame she had felt earlier. She had been holding her tears for a long time.
Luke is in a state of panic and is unsure what to do. He was enraged once more and vowed that whoever had done this to her would get punished for it soon. He moved Cassie's head carefully and made her cry on his shoulder "It's okay, I'm here, no one will ever hurt you again."
======================================================================
A couple of hours Earlier:
Luke had just finished his main subject, which he considered dull. While he was walking, all he could think of was the night he and Cassie spent at their house, just sharing stories and having a good time. He had no idea that all the agony Lena had left him would gradually fade away.
He was still thinking about her with a wide grin on his face when he heard some noises coming from a nearby hallway. As he got closer the commotion became louder, and he was surprised by what he saw. Cassie was there, her blouse ripped to reveal her undergarment, and one girl was grabbing her arms to stop her from fleeing. His stomach clenched and he became enraged; he can now see Kate, the class president and a cheerleader at their institution, laughing at Cassie and staring down at her. He didn't expect Cassie to be at the same university as him; his first thought when he witnessed what Kate said to her was to grab Kate and the other girls; however, since he is a man and it is not right to physically attack them, he believes that making them pay in a different way is much better revenge.
When he started talking and everyone saw him, they stopped what they were doing and Kate tried to convey a very ridiculous story to him, which he refused to buy into. Kate is a beautiful girl, he admits, and she has shown interest in him several times, which he has turned down. When he first saw Kate, his initial reaction was that she proved to be a wealthy, spoiled child with a terrible attitude, which she shows right now.
He couldn't bear keeping Cassie's misery, so he walked directly to her, getting rid of the other girl's arm from Cassie and removing his jacket so she was able to cover the exposed bra. It is a chilly day, and he wants to wrap his arms around Cassie and protect her from any individual who might harm her. He doesn't care what other students think about what they witnessed; Cassie is an interesting individual who he met in an unexpected way. After his ranting, he carefully took her away from all of the toxicity and to the parking lot, which is now vacant because the class hasn't finished yet. He can explain the incident to their professors tomorrow and why they have to leave the campus without consent.
He then requested her to get inside the car to keep her warm; he then noticed Cassie's face was red; he worried and sought to touch it to see if she had a fever. After checking her temperature and confirming that she does not have a fever he felt relieved. Cassie has been deafeningly silent since they entered his car and has refused to say anything to him, which he understood. Cassie's eyes welled up with tears, and she burst out weeping with both hands in her face. It was a horrible sight, and watching her like this made him even angrier at the individuals who had made her feel this way.
