winter was your favorite season.

the weather becomes cold enough to bury yourself in sweaters and blankets as you binge-watch your favorite show. snow would normally paint the landscape into a beautiful white that'd last for days.

kids built snowmen, had snowball fights, and created snow angels like it was new although they did it every year. as a working adult, even though the heavy amounts of snow brought lots of shoveling, you still loved it.

many find comfort in constant warmth, but you find it in the cold. to you, finding warmth in the cold felt much better, more satisfying.

akiko yosano was the warmth that comforted you in the cold. with her hand in yours, you loved to spend your winter days going out when you two were off from work or sleeping in and watching television all day with her.

today, you two decided to spend valentines outdoors. sitting at a table in the cafe you two decided to visit, yosano waited for you to get your drinks. the line was long, so you urged her to take a seat while you got the drinks.

as yosano sat at the table, she rested her chin against her palm, her slender fingers pressed on her cheek. her fingers were even colder than her cheeks, she noted. well, of course they would be in such cold weather.

she waited for a while before you showed up with two drinks and a raspberry parfait in your hands.

"hold on," she lifted her head off of her hand, "these are all cold things."

"yeah... it slipped my mind until i picked them up," you nervously laughed.

the cafe might've provided some heat to everyone inside, but it was still chilly next to the window, where yosano found the only available seat.

you handed over yosano's drink and she lightly pressed her fingers over it, "iced, i see."

"hey," you whined, "stop rubbing it in. it's one of your favorites, so it's the thought that counts. the parfait is yours too. they're only selling it today."

"i was just teasing, darling. thank you," she took your left hand and gently squeezed it. "if i ever need something warm, i've got you."

your finger brushed over the ring she wore. you replied with a smile, "yeah, you took my words right out of my mouth, love."
