Tyler was sitting beside me, big green eyes staring at me, or, more accurately, my forehead. "It's purple..." he said.
"Yeah, and huge..." added his brother who was sitting at the couch across from us.
"Wow, that makes me feel so much prettier," I said sarcastically. "Thanks for this," I told West as I pointed at the purple lump on my forehead. I had to lift the bag of ice I was holding to my new ugly friend.
"You're welcome," he said with his charming smile, but despite the fluttering of my heart, I glared at him. How can he do that when I'm seriously upset that he made me ugly and that now all my hope of him liking me were destroyed.
"Oh, come on... I said I was sorry," he said.
"Yeah, tell that to the beautiful purple lump that's on my pretty face," I muttered. He just laughed.
I was sitting on a couch in West Gray's house and here I am sulking about how ugly I must look to him. And it's also all his fault. He's the dream-husband I've been watching, the hot neighbor I get to see on summer each year, and the first time we ever...well, interacted was when he hit me with a ball. Couldn't we have talked in a different situation, like say, perhaps their ball just went straight into my room and I had to give it back, or they come up to me. Either way, it was much less painful, and does not include something purple.
"Can I poke it?" mini West asked.
I stared at the cute little boy beside me and grinned, "If you do that I'll tickle you."
"Ha, my brother does that all the time so I'm quite used to it," he said confidently. He lifted a small hand to reach for my forehead. I leaned in and threatened, "If you do that I'll kiss you."
Tyler's hand froze and his cute big eyes widened before scrambling away from me. I laughed, "Good boy."
In front of me, I saw West grin, his green eyes twinkling with amusement that made me melt. "So if I touch it, would you kiss me?" he asked curiously.
I blushed and glared at him, "No." YES!
He just chuckled, "Thought so."
I sighed, even though I really wanted to tell him then and there that I've loved him since I was five. But I just stood up and told them thanks for the ice bag and that I should go back.
West stood and looked at me then said sincerely, "I really am sorry about that..." he said. I just gave him a small smile as he started leading me towards the door. It was all I could manage to do because he caught me off gaurd with his apology and the cute way he looked. Before I stepped out of their house, I glanced at West and grinned, "I'll forgive you when 'this' (poiting at my purple friend) disappears," I told him. Then I turned to Tyler, "See yah around Ty."
"Don't kiss me," he warned and stepped behind his brother, but he had a wide smile on his adorable face.
I won't. Because it's your brother that I wanna kiss...
I walked back inside and Maylie's eyes went wide when she saw me. Then she composed herself and speculated me, "I love what you did to your face dear," she said.
"Thank you, West Gray did all the work. You should ask him to make you pretty too," I replied cheerfully. Now that I think about it, it was the very first time I've been to their house, and the very first time I actually talked to West with no long distance between us. The only times that I sorta talked to him was... when he caught my gaze when I was watching him when I was seven. He just stared at me, so I dorkishly gave a small wave and slid down to disappear.
