Just a small little story about Scarlet and Ricky... :)
It was a bright sunny day, a perfect day to play outside with the neighborhood kids. Seven-year-old Scarlet ran out the house to bully her favorite twins whom she found playing swords with their favorite neighbor West Gray.
West was teaching them about knighthood, and showing them the way of the sword. The twins paid close attention, absorbing every single word their teacher said. Sky on the other hand was asleep under a tree. The little girl rolled her eyes at her brother.
"Hey Scar," said a boy with caramel-colored hair. Scarlet smiled at him, her red hair glinting under the sunlight. She had always liked Ricky since he wasn't annoying her like the twins, nor did he treat her in an inferior manner like West... or ignored her like Sky.
He was friendly and nice to her, a trait of his which left a great positive impression on her. She was the only girl around, well except for that little brunette named Naomi, but that girl avoided everyone like the plague, well... she does stare out her window to watch West a lot. And so, Ricky was the only boy she considered as her friend.
He was holding a basketball and dribbling it clumsily. "Wanna try?" he offered. She shook her head, "I've got some stuff to do." She went off. Yup, she had some important matters to attend to, and that meant making the twins cry for their mommy.
She smiled playfully as she sneakily went around her house and brought out the gardening gloves from her pockets. She stole them from their gardener yesterday in order to conduct her evil little plan.
She managed to fill a small plastic bag with bugs of different sizes and kinds. She giggled happily as she ducked, crawled and rolled her way to the Hills' house without being seen. But just then, Natt popped out of nowhere and roared at her.
Nick appeared behind her, splashing her with water.
She screamed in surprise and slipped forward, landing on her stomach and while the twins ran away while laughing victoriously.
She gritted her teeth in anger and started getting up, but then she felt a disgusting feeling against her skin. The little plastic bag she put the bugs in had broken, releasing the little creatures all over her. She screamed and wildly started brushing them off.
She ran back to their house, crying, plans of future revenge filling her head. She slammed the door shut while wiping her tears away and ran straight into Ricky. He was getting Sky's watergun to wake Sky up. The Andersons were out grocery shopping
"Scarlet?" he asked in concern.
She dodged his reaching hands and ran upstairs to cry in privacy. And she did do that... but, Ricky was in the room with her. She had already finished crying when she noticed his presence.
"What are you doing here?" she grumbled.
"What did they do?" he asked simply, sitting next to her patiently.
It didn't take a second for Scarlet to know that he was talking about the twins. "They gave me a surprise attack and splashed water all over me..." she said. "They ran, and I fell on the ground where the bugs went all over me," she sniffled.
"Bugs?"
"I picked them from our garden to put in the twins' pillow cases," she explained.
Ricky sighed and patted her head. "Want me to cheer you up?" he asked.
She glanced at him and tilted her head while wiping a tear away. "How?"
He thought about it and then said, "Close your eyes."
"How will that cheer me up?" she demanded.
"Just do it," he said.
"Okay," she said. Just then, she felt him kiss her forehead. She wanted to open her eyes but he kissed both of them next. "Ricky--" And he pressed his lips gently against hers. The soft warm feeling bloomed within her, heating up her face and making her heart race rapidly. It was unlike anything she had ever felt before.
Once he moved away, she opened her eyes to stare widely at him.
He smiled. "I saw mom crying once, and that's how dad cheered her up."
Scarlet stared straight into the boy's warm brown eyes.
"So, did it cheer you up?" he asked.
The girl continued to stare, but she nodded slowly.
He smiled, "Good, hey I'm going to shoot your brother with his watergun, wanna come?"
She smiled brightly and agreed. The boy took her hand and they went to get the watergun.
Although she cried, had a failed prank, and got chased by her brother with a murderous glare... that was the day she had decided to marry Ricky when she grows up.
