Naomi Carter
I waved my friends goodbye until I saw Stevie's car disappear. It was fun having them over. But when I started thinking about what Stevie said...
I shook my head, my cheeks already heating up. He saw right through me when I tried to stall. He already knew that I was together with West... and the tips he gave me, oh the tips...
I blushed even brighter. I started to turn, West will surely think I'm weird, standing alone, blushing for some apparent reason. But when I turned around, I slammed into someone’s chest. I rubbed my nose and looked up. “West?” I thought he already left.
He was staring blankly into space, his mouth hanging open. I touched his cheek, “West?”
My voice seemed to have snapped him out of it. He blinked, then he mumbled something incomprehensible and then said in exasperation, “COUSIN…”
I frowned in confusion, “Cousin? You mean my cousin Stevie?”
He looked down at me, his eyes still wide in disbelief. “Cousins…” he murmured.
“Is something wrong?” I asked. He was acting really weird right now. He suddenly pulled back, slapping his forehead so hard that I winced. That must’ve hurt. He seemed to realize that he did it too hard as well, because he slowly removed his hand then his face scrunched up in pain as he dropped to a crouch, his head bent down as he groaned.
I crouched in front of him, worried and wondering what the hell was wrong with him.
He suddenly went quiet. I didn’t know what to do. I scooted a little closer and leaned down to get a closer look on his face, his bangs covered his eyes, but I could see a grin on his face, his cute dimples peeking adorably. “West?” that must’ve been the third time I called him name, hopefully now, I’ll get a response… a reasonable one.
I thought I heard him say something, and I strained to make out the words…only to discover that they weren’t words. He was laughing. Well, chuckling at first. But then it turned into guffaws of laughter. I backed up a little as he threw his head back and continued to laugh like a maniac. He looked really cute, and a little insane as well.
His laughter was so contagious though, and soon my lips were trembling until I gave in and laughed with him. “Why are we laughing?” I asked between laughs.
“Because,” he choked, “I…” he couldn’t continue, he resumed laughing.
He sat back and leaned on his forearms as he began to sober up. “I feel stupid,” he said smiling and shaking his head.
I grinned, “You look stupid too.” A complete lie. He looked cute and hot.
He chuckled, “You lied.”
I blinked my face heating up. “I really suck at lying, don’t I?”
He flashed me this smile, a smile that seemed to indicate something. It was too late when I realized what that something was, he kissed me, slow and gentle. His lips were firm and yet soft. He tasted great.
I felt his hand brush my arms, the one of them tangled in my hair. I kissed him back eagerly. My heart was racing the entire time. The next thing I knew was that my hands were on his hard chest, it roamed and settled to the place where I could feel the beat of his heart. I heard him chuckle and then he deepened the kiss.
Someone cleared their throat. I jumped back sharply, stumbling as I looked up to see Ana with her arms crossed over her chest, a calculative look on her face. West didn’t seem as jumpy and startled as I did. In fact he remained where he was when we were kissing. He coolly met his mother’s gaze and smiled sheepishly, like he was caught doing something naughty which wasn’t far from the truth.
