~ Branzy ~

Breakfast was over; Branzy and Clown were nearly ready to continue on their journey.

It was a beautiful morning. Branzy was staring transfixed at the view in front of him. He had finished packing first and was now waiting for Clown.

Slumped against a wall, he was gazing longingly out of a window in the temporary shelter. He was gently humming a tune while his hands were burried in his pockets. In them, his fingers were wrapped around the pointed surface of the nether star that Clown had given him all of those months ago. Outside, the sky was a pale, washed-out shade of blue; the horizon was painted a subtle splash of orange. A slow flurry of snowflakes cascaded across the sky. 'It was so beautiful,' he thought as he continued to watch as some of the crystals pressed against the window and slowly slid down the glass. By now, he could even make out a morning fog lazily rolling past him as it creeped across the icy land.

The slow rambling thoughts in his mind were intrrupted by the faint shuffling of footsteps. He jerked his head upwards only to be met with the sight of the most beautiful man he had ever laid eyes on.

"You ready to go Branz?" Clown asked peering over at him.

Branzy briefly glanced downwards as if to check he really did have everything on him.

Correct walking gear?

Check.

Everything packed for the journey?

Check.

Conversation topics to talk about with Clown?

Definitely check.

"I think so," he murmed, a hint of uncertainty still tainting his voice.

"Well, if you're sure, let's get moving."

He brushed past him and slowly pushed open the front door to reveal the soft snow. He took a tentative step into the frozen blanket, a soft crunching noise reverberating through the air as his foot made contact with the outside world. Clown trodded a few more steps forwards before looking back at Branzy.

"You coming?" Clown questioned.

And yet Branzy didn't move. He felt giddy and almost like a child who yearned for it to snow every Christmas. Yes he had seen snow before but somethkng about this time felt different, almost as if he were in a wonderland.

"It's so beautiful."

Clown started laughing as he glanced around. "Yes, yes it is."

They both stood there watching in silence taking in the beauty even though they had seen it many times before. However, this time they decided to appreciate it.

A few moments later, Clown turned back to Branzy and did a little run towards him. "Come on silly," he laughed airily, "We need to get moving." He grabbed one of Branzy's hands in his own and dragged him further out into the snow.

Branzy's heart began to race as he felt Clown's hands around his. The leather from Clown's gloves were somehow radiating with a warmth from his skin. He glanced at Clown with shock before turning back to look at their interlaced hands.

Branzy was so focused on this new sensation that he hadn't been looking where he had been walking. This was when he found himself falling, falling through the air, falling into the snow.

He couldn't believe it, he had tripped over... himself...

This time Clown was really laughing and he wasn't afraid to show it.

Branzy rolled over in the snow, looking up at the nearly translucent sky above, "Are you done yet? Help would be nice." he remarked.

Clown continued to snicker at him as he extended his hand to him yet again.
