Clark and Bruce were sleeping. They slept on the opposite sides of the bed, so Bruce wouldn't hurt himself when kicking in his sleep. The wind from the opened window cooled them down comfortably.

Then there was a crash.

Clark's eyes opened as he sat up. He quickly scanned the manor for anyone intruding.

The window in the front room was broken.

Clark jumped out of bed and ran into there in t minus one second. He saw the object on the ground that broke the window. He picked it up to examine it.

It was just a regular rock. No Kryptonite. Nothing special.

What was the point of this?

Clark scanned the manor to find who was perpetrator. He found someone running away. He flew through the broken window and easily caught up to the man.

He grabbed him by the collar and scowled, "You really thought you could get away?"

The man was surprised about Clark catching up. Despite the surprise, the man had a hardened exterior. Was he one of Joker's men that was left over?

Wait, if the Joker was aware that Clark was with Bruce, why would he have done this?

Clark observed, "You did know I was going to catch you." His eyes widened as he recognized his mistake. He dropped the man and flew back into the manor.

When he reached the bedroom, but Bruce wasn't there.

Clark quickly scanned the room to see what happened. There was no sign of struggle. He looked through the opened window with his super senses. He didn't find anyone.

He tried to find where Bruce was! He was panicking over where he could have gone. His heart thumped painfully in his chest as he tried to resist the urge to flip over the bed just to find Bruce, despite being able to see through it. Neither Damian or Alfred was in the manor.

What about the Batcave?

Clark inhaled as he didn't waste time trying to get there. He went to the room where the entrance was.

It was closed.

Clark looked down into the Batcave to search for Bruce as he hit the keys to open the entrance.

He managed to find Bruce.

But he wasn't alone.

Barely before the door opened, Clark flew in and down into the Batcave. When he reached Bruce and the perpetrator, they were at the batcomputer.

The Joker had Bruce with an arm around his neck, holding him close. His other hand help a knife to his neck.

Bruce breaths were heaving. He was sweating. His shaking hand was on the arm that held the knife to his neck. He looked at Clark terrified.

Clark didn't try to stop, so he could snatch Bruce from Joker's arms. He tried not to hesitate. He might injury Bruce or Joker because of how Joker was holding Bruce.

Well, not if he broke Joker's arms.

As Clark thought this through, Clark reached Bruce and Joker in less than two seconds. He forced Joker's arms off of Bruce. And faster than a speeding bullet, Bruce was in his arms.

Joker was kneeling down in pain. His broken arms struggled to move, but they hung by his sides. He struggled to laugh, "Wow, you are much more faster than I expected."

Clark glared at him.

"You have to say that idea to distract you was a good idea, wasn't it?"

Clark didn't say a word. He picked his foot up and kicked Joker in the head, knocking him out. He was not going to spare him any entertainment. He took a deep breath in, trying to keep his composure to not finish him off.
