\\\\\/////A few hours had passed and it felt like I've known Glenn all my life just from talking to him. He always had quite a charming personality with a hint of awkwardness and slight charisma. He was smart as hell and he was so carefree yet so tense at the same time.
It's kind of difficult to explain but in a good way.
Good.
That's the perfect word to describe him.
Good.
I've never had a true friend in my life and I was so glad that I was blessed to have Glenn as my first. He's taught me that the world isn't all that bad and that there are good people here. He restored my faith in humanity, to be completely honest.
After growing up on the streets and in bars trained to use anything as a weapon and to keep your reflexes sharp and your guard up, prepared for another gang or anything to ambush you and your family at any given point, you lose faith in humanity at a very young age. My first ever gun was given to me when I was seven years old and I learned to shoot fast-moving targets by the end of the year. I learned to get used to gunshots, drunk men laughing so hard they can't breathe, pole dancers wearing nothing, some women screaming for help because they are having unconsented sex, prostitutes walking around, little kids with wine bottles, everyone holding onto a gun or having a knife in their pockets, drugs everywhere, and doing illegal missions like such as robbing banks, houses, and stores, starting riots, planting grenades in enemy territory, and much worse.
I was raised thinking that life was a war and that everyone was against me. Never let your guard down. To stick with the pack and protect each other with your life. If someone is in danger who you don't know or isn't in the gang, leave them for dead. You must be the last man standing, even though you're standing in the group. You have to have that mindset.
I still did, but Glenn was the only one I had let my guard down for. Other classmates that attended my college and the professors? Not even close. Glenn climbed the walls without me noticing and instead of hurting me, he tried to help me. To get me to lower the walls and let people in. Hell, Glenn was the earthquake that caused the walls of Pompeii to tumble and demolish but it was my trust. He broke through to me because he is that nice of a person who wanted me to see the actual light of joy.

\\\\\/////By what I assumed was the end of the day, I was able to walk on my own. It was quite the painful limp, but it was at least something good for a change. And this wasn't my first injury caused by a car crash or crazy accident while doing something illegal like I had said before so it didn't hurt as much. I've dodged death my whole life, breaking my entire body in the process and I'm only in my early twenties. The pain was less than it should have been.
Hell, some of my bones have been replaced with metal I've gotten so fucked up. But there's no way in hell that I would tell Glenn that. He'd think I was a freak or something.
I made my way to the back where there were the lockers and washroom of the kitchen. It was a complete mess, but I wasn't surprised. Everyone was leaving as soon as they fucking saw humans who looked like they just got out of a meat grinder or something and started to commit cannibalism.
My eyes landed on the woman's bathroom and I limped over before turning the silver knob to be greeted by a scary person, a girl in an apron with a bite mark on her arm, a huge chunk of flesh had been ripped from her arm. "Fuck!" I gasped, backing up, causing the walking corpse to roar and lunge forward. "Shit!" I cried, dodging it. My eyes scrambled for something to protect myself as I subconsciously put weight on my injured leg. I whimpered in pain as the sting ripped through my leg. The dead thing stumbled, losing balance before using the wall to help herself stand before coming at me. My eyes landed on a spatula that was on the ground near my feet. I picked up without a second thought before thrusting my hand forward and stabbing this fucker in the face.
Due to her barely decaying skin, it was harder to impale her skull, hell she tried to grab at me but I slammed her against the wall causing the spatula to go right through her head, causing her to stop moving. I winced in pain from my leg and let go of the handle causing me to fall backwards on my ass.
"Y/n!" Glenn called, his fast footsteps coming clearer and clearer until he was actually in the room. "What the hell happened?!" He gasped, kneeling next to me. "Went on an adventure to see what else is in here and went to see the bathroom and this bitch came at me," I wheezed as Glenn helped me sit up, "Fuckin' bitch," I grumbled.
Glenn started to gently feel up my arms and lift the t-shirt sleeves, "What're you doing?" I asked softly as he searched my skin, "Checking for bites and scratches... All of the walkers had those on them..." He replied quietly, his eyes full of focus. "Bitch didn't bite or scratch me... Didn't get the chance to even try," I panted softly earning a soft chuckle from his lips. "I know but you still gotta be careful. I don't you to turn into a walker," I giggled breathlessly, "Walkers"?" I repeated with a shy smile, making him glance at me, "Is that what you're calling them?" I asked causing him to smile awkwardly and blush, "I mean... Yeah... They can't run so..." He explained timidly as he pulled back the collar of my shirt so he could see my bare back. "I like it," I say, not able to remove the smile from my face.
