Lilith's POV
I walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind me quietly. The fire in our common room was still going, Eden passed out on the couch. I donned the Cloak and walked out into the hallway, the moon illuminating the floor and walls. I started on the path to the library, only to hear the soft beating of wings behind me.
Turning around, I saw Crow flying slowly, reading through papers, his feet barely touching the ground. "No, no, no, and no. Where the hell are the papers that I asked for?" I heard him mumble. "Yes, these are papers that I need, but not the ones I want," Rubbing the bridge of his nose, he landed softly on the ground. "Alice Rookwood, dead. Avery Lestrange, dead. Who the hell is Hadrian R.?" That piqued my interest. "Three generations back. . . Not from this timeline either. . ."
I sighed and took off the Cloak, the moonlight making me glow. "I've never heard of those particular people, heard of their families, but not those people." I tell him, Crow not sparing me a glance. "Alice and Avery were old friends of mine from a different. . . Time, per say. But Hadrian? That I'm not sure of," He explains to me. "You're out awful late?" Crow finally looked up at me. "I need to do some research about this book." I tell him. His purple eyes bore holes into me, making me shiver slightly. "All I know is that it's very dark magick." I explain slowly.
"Horcruxes is what you'll want to look for. Should be by the fourth window on the right hand side of the Restricted Section." And with that, he was gone. "Horcruxes?" I mumble out loud. I don the Cloak again, holding onto the book tighter. When I get there, the Restricted Section was already opened. 'How odd. . .' I think. I walk in and look for the section that Crow had mentioned.
I looked around and then my eyes laid onto a glowing book. Picking it off of the shelf, a saw that it was the book I needed. Looking around me just in case, I took the book and ran back to the classroom.
No-one's POV
"Okay!" Eden started, walking in front of her desk. "Today is going to be a long day, so let's get started." Hermione got out her notes from last year, Archer took out her journal, Harry and Draco sat down properly, and Lilith just stared off into space, listening. "Last year, we focused on the Death Eaters; what they were and what they did. This year, we will be focusing on the Dark Lord, who he was, what he did, what his goals were, etc."
Eden looked at the five student in front of her, noticing Lilith was staring off into space. "Something on your mind, wee one?" She asked, gaining the attention of the others. Lilith stared intently at something the others couldn't see. "If one was to take out a piece of their soul, would they be considered immortal?" She asked suddenly, shocking everyone. "What makes you ask that, Lilith?" Eden asked her, her eyes narrowing. The only other person who wished to reach that was gone.
Instead of saying anything, Lilith just held up the diary, still staring at nothing. "If you were to take out part of your soul, bind it to an object, or person, the only way to truly be gone is if you destroy the object in which the soul part resides." Lilith explained. "Isn't that right, miss?" She looked up at Eden, her eyes holding betrayal. "You said that the Dark Lord was gone. Dead. No longer alive. But he's not. And you know that." Lilith stood up quietly, setting the diary on her desk. "How many did he make? How mutilated did he make his soul?" Eden just watched the girl, her mind spinning. How did she find out? "Tell me, miss," Lilith looked up at Eden, her golden eyes going glassy. "Why lie to us, deceive us, tell us that he was gone, that the Death Eaters were disbanded? You came in last year to teach us about what happened to get us here now. When we're you going to tell us that he was going to come back?"
Archer watched carefully. She watched Lilith as she tore down the thought process that Eden had, she watched Eden try and come up with an answer. "I won't be joining this class anymore. Goodbye." Lilith said, grabbing her bag and walked out. Hermione looked at Archer, confused. "What happened? Why was she acting so cold?" She asked. Standing up, Archer walked up to the bedroom. The others joined her, watching her look on Lilith's desk for her notebook. Flipping to the most recent page, she stared at the few words written down.
Masks.
They're deceiving me.Harry walked over next to his twin, reading the words. Shock rang through him, she thought they were deceiving her? Archer felt like she had been struck with a knife. Lilith thought she was deceiving her? Hermione walked over and placed her hand on Archer's shoulder. "She. . . She thinks we're all deceiving her. . ." She mumbled, letting her arm fall to her side. Draco piped up.
"What? Why would she?" He asked, his voice laced with concern and shock. "One of her cards. . . Masks, by the sounds of it, says something about being deceived and being lied to. . ." Harry said, taking the notebook from his sister's limp arm. Archer couldn't process anything, her mind was spinning, she felt sick to her stomach at the thought of hurting Lilith.
"I. . . I need to go. . ." She muttered, bolting out of the room and into the hall. Harry ran after her, but was stopped by Hermione, who was shaking her head. Their once group of five was now down to four.
