I opened my eyes and saw that I was no longer in the Forbidden Forest. In fact, I had no idea where I was at. I stood up and looked down at my clothes, which were very clean. I turned to my left and found Harry lying there.
"Harry?" I said, making him look up.
"Max!" he replied, standing up as quickly as he could.
"Are...are we dead?" I asked him.
He nodded his head. "I think so."
All of a sudden, we heard someone barely breathing. We looked over at a white table and went towards it. We looked under the table and were taken back by what we saw.
"What is that?!" Harry asked.
"It looks like Voldemort. Only smaller and...bloodier."
"You can't help," a voice said from behind us.
We stood up and turned around, finding Dumbledore standing behind us.
"Professor Dumbledore," we said.
"You two are wonderful and brave. Let us walk."
The three of us began walking. We weren't sure what was happening right now, but Dumbledore was here, so I guessed that it didn't matter.
"What was that thing?" I asked him, breaking the silence.
"Something beyond our help," he replied. "Two parts of Voldemort were sent here to die. But they were combined as one."
"Where are we?" Harry questioned, changing the subject.
"I was going to ask you two the same question. Where would you two say that we are at right now?"
"Well, it looks like King's Cross," Harry explained.
"Only cleaner," I added. "And without all the trains."
"King's Cross, you say, am I right?" he asked. We nodded our heads. "This is, as they say, your party. I expect you two now realize that you two and Voldemort have been connected by something other than fate since that night in Godric's Hollow all those years ago."
"So it's true, then, sir?" Harry spoke up. "A part of him lives within me and Max, right?"
"Lived," Dumbledore corrected him. "They were just destroyed many moments ago by none other than Voldemort himself. You two were the Horcruxes he never meant to make."
We sat down on a bench and didn't say anything for a moment. This was weird. Dumbledore was here, telling us all this information about us and Voldemort. Harry and I were Horcruxes the entire time and neither of us knew or even suspected it while we were out hunting for them.
"We have to go back, don't we?" I asked.
"Oh, that's up to you two," Dumbledore answered.
"We have a choice?" Harry questioned.
"Yes. We're in King's Cross, you say? I think, if you two so desired, you'd be able to board a train."
"Where would it take us?" I asked.
Dumbledore chuckled. "On." With that, he stood up and began walking away from us.
Suddenly, I heard a train whistle somewhere in the distance.
"Voldemort has the Elder Wand!" Harry informed him, standing up, followed by me.
Dumbledore stopped walking and turned around, facing us again. "True."
"The snake's still alive, too," I added.
"Yes," Dumbledore said.
"And we have nothing to kill it with," Harry added.
"Help will always be given at Hogwarts, Harry and Max, to those who ask for it. I've always prided myself on my ability to turn a phrase. Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it. But I would, in this case, amend my original statement to this: Help will always be given that Hogwarts to those who deserve it. Do not pity the dead, you two. Pity the living. And, above all, all those who live without love."
"Our mother's Patronus was a doe," I said. "It was just like mine and Professor Snape's. It's curious, don't you think?"
"Actually, if I think about it, it doesn't seem curious at all," he replied. "I'll be going now, you two." Then, he started walking away from us again.
"Professor?" Harry called out to him, making him turn around one more time. "Is this all real? Or is it just happening inside our heads?"
"Of course it's happening inside your heads, you two! But why should that mean that it's not real?" When he walked away after saying that, he was gone for good.
"What should we do?" Harry asked me.
"Well, we have a choice, like Dumbledore said. We can just stay here and stay dead, or we can go back and finish what Dumbledore started."
"What do you want to do?"
I stared at him. "I want to defeat Voldemort. I want to be able to see Draco again and spend the rest of my life with him. I want to be able to talk to you when I can't talk to anyone else. I want to be able to see you every holiday or every damn time we're sending our kids off to Hogwarts. I want to have a normal life. Don't you want that, too? Don't you want to spend the rest of your life with Ginny?"
Harry stared back at me, nodding his head. "Yes, I want that."
"Then let's go back and defeat Voldemort once and for all," I told him. "We'll do it together."
With that, we closed our eyes and we were back in the Forbidden Forest. I knew that because I heard Voldemort talking, words that he was mumbling to himself.
"Are they dead, Cissy?" Bellatrix asked.
I heard Narcissa walking towards Harry first. She quietly gasped and whispered to Harry, "Is Draco still alive?" I knew that Harry nodded his head at that question. After a moment, I heard her walk over to me. "Do you love Draco?" she asked me.
I nodded my head. She had to know at this point that Draco was the love of my life. I knew that Draco talked to her about me a lot. It was obvious, especially when she told me that Draco always talked about one girl in particular. That girl was me.
After that, I heard Narcissa stand up so she could tell Voldemort and the other Death Eaters that we were--
"Dead."
