Chapter 36

The same day, 2:15 pm

In the bunker

Dean's POV

Ella regressed to about 3, a few hours ago, and I have no idea what to do with her. The last kid I was around was Sam, and that was a long time ago. It's different when Ella regresses to an older age. But she's never regressed as young as 3 before. I'm not sure what to do with her. But she seems fine. So do I really need to do anything with her? She's just been following me around, and asking for snacks. She's fine. She's just being a kid.

Sam: She need anything? He asks from across the room.

Dean: I don't think so. I think she's fine.

Sam: You think? How do you not know?

Dean: She hasn't said that she needed anything yet.

Sam: She's 3, Dean. A 3 year old isn't always gonna tell you when they need something.

He walks over to where Ella's sitting on the couch, and squats down in front of her.

Sam: Hi, Baby.

Ella: Hi, Sammy. She says with a smile.

I don't know much about age regression, but Ella's always happy when she's regressed. As long as she's happy, it's ok. She's only ever unhappy when she's denied snacks. Or when I tell her to stay off her foot. 3 year old Ella doesn't understand why she can't walk without her crutches, or why her ankle hurts.

Sam: Are you ok? Do you need anything?

Ella: Leg hurts.

Dean: It's hurt, Sweetheart.

Ella: I hurt?

Dean: You hurt your leg. Now it's in a cast, and you gotta wait a while before you can take it off. The cast is helping your leg get better, so that you can run around again.

Ella: How long that takes?

Dean: A few weeks. A little over a month, I think.

Ella: That's a long time. That's like, forever.

Dean: Yeah, but it'll be worth it when you're healed and able to do what you want. You won't have to use crutches anymore.

She starts to say something, but I hear her stomach growl. We just asked her if she needed anything, and she just said that her leg hurts. She didn't mention being hungry. Maybe Sam's right. A 3 year old isn't always gonna tell you when they need something.

Sam: You hungry?

Ella: Little bit.

Dean: I don't think she ate much today. She didn't eat breakfast, because she was pissed off about being awake.
