Chapter 12

Monday, 8:30 am

At school

Ella's POV

Ella: I hate it here.

Sam: You say that everyday.

Ella: Because I want you to understand that I hate it here. But you obviously don't, because you keep bringing me here.

Sam: I can't just not bring you to school.

Ella: Yes, you can. Just say that I'm sick or something.

Sam: I'm not gonna say that you're sick, when you're perfectly fine. You just don't like school because you don't wanna do the work. You need an education.

Ella: Says who?

Sam: Me. Now go to class before you're late.

Ella: But I don't want to.

Sam: Unless there's a good reason why, you're going.

Ella: Fine.

I get my bag and open the door.

Sam: Have a good day.

Ella: I can't have a good day, in a place that I hate.

Sam: Then behave yourself until school's over.

Yeah. Like that's gonna happen. I roll my eyes and get out of the truck, now heading in to the building. I hate it here. I hate waking up at 6 am every day, just to put on this stupid uniform and come to this stupid place with stupid work and stupid people. The only person in this place that I tolerate is Ryan. He's the only one here with common sense and basic human decency.

Ryan: Hey. He calls while walking up to me.

Ella: Hey. You look worried.

Ryan: Yeah. Mrs. Murphy said that if I saw you, to tell you to go to her office.

She's sending my best friend to send me to her? That bitch. You can't use my best friend against me, you whore. She probably wants to suspend me for happened on Friday. But I still don't regret it. So she can shove her suspension straight up her ass.

Ella: Do you know why?

Ryan: No. But it's probably about what happened on Friday. After I got back, she found me almost immediately, and told me that she saw me leave with you. She said that since I came back, I'd only be getting a write up. But she said that you'd be getting something different. So I'm thinking it's a suspension.

Ella: I just got here. My brother literally just dropped me off and I'm being suspended. She couldn't have called my house?

Ryan: I think she likes upsetting people. But you should go talk to her, just to avoid further punishment. You know she'll find any reason to suspend people.

Ella: Yeah. If I don't get suspended, I'll see you later.

Ryan: See you later.

Now I'm walking to Mrs. Murphy's office, knowing that I'm about to get suspended at 8 in the fucking morning. She couldn't at least let me get an hour in to the day? I haven't even been here for 15 minutes, and I'm already in trouble. As if I haven't been in trouble all weekend for what I did on Friday. This is why I hate it here. I can understand being in trouble at home. But at school? For the smallest things? Really? As the principal, does Mrs. Murphy not have anything better to do? Her main worry is me hitting a bully? A bully who told me to hit her? I'm in trouble for doing what I was told to do? Seriously? Once to Mrs. Murphy's office, I knock on the door and she takes a million years to answer. But when she finally opens the door, she looks at me like I just slapped her goldfish.
