Chapter 46

The same day, 3:10 pm

In the bunker

Sam's POV

I'm in the living room, drinking a beer, when Ella runs into the room. Or at least, that was her attempt at running. I think she's regressed. In her normal head space, Ella hasn't tried to run on crutches yet. Either she's in her little space or she's just doing things that I told her not to do, for fun.

Sam: I thought I told you not to run in the house. And you're supposed to be cleaning up the mess you made, in your room.

Ella: No.

Sam: "No"? You're definitely supposed to be cleaning your-

Ella: No!

Sam: Ella Mae. I try warning her, but Little Ella doesn't appreciate being warned.

Ella: I not scared of you.

Sam: I don't want you to be scared of me. I just want you to listen to me, when I ask you to do things.

Ella: No.

Sam: I'm trying to be patient with you, but you're making it a little difficult, by acting like this.

Ella: I no talk to you.

She crosses her arms and starts walking away.

Sam: Then why'd you come in here?

Ella: I do what I want to.

She gets to the door, but stops. She doesn't leave the room, like I thought she would. I think she wants something, but she doesn't wanna tell me what she wants.

Sam: Do you need something?

Ella: No.

Sam: Then what are you doing?

Ella: It's dark in there.

Sam: In the hall?

She nods and comes back to me. I wanna say she's about 4, right now. Or maybe 3. One of them. Either way, she's definitely in that stage of childhood where she's afraid of the dark, or things that she doesn't understand.

Sam: There's nothing in there. The only thing you might find in there is Dean. And he's not gonna hurt you.

Ella: But it's dark in there.

Sam: Do you want me to go with you?

Ella: Yeah. Cause you're big, and you're gonna scare them away.

Sam: Who?

Ella: The monsters. They hide in the dark.

Sam: There's no monsters here, Sweetheart. But I'll go with you, just in case. Ok?

She nods and lets me take her to her room. I don't know why she originally came into the living room, though. But Little Ella likes to fight, so she probably wanted to argue with me.
