Levi's POV:

It was winter of my senior year in high school. It was Christmas break. I sat in my room as I watched the snowflakes gracefully fall down and land on the pile of snow. The air was suddenly filled with the aroma of hot tea. I looked back to see my mother carrying two cups of tea.

"I made you some tea" mom says, with a bright smile on her face.

"Thank you" I say as I accepted the cup of tea.

I was always closer to my mother than my father. He was always in his office even on holidays. I've grown up being used to my father's absence. Yes, he was there financially but he was never there physically. I could ask him any material thing and he'd buy it for me but what I could never get from him was parental love.

Me and my mother weren't even halfway finished with our tea when the door opened. I expected it to be one of the maids but to my surprise it was my father.

"Dear? what are you doing here? I thought you said you won't be home until late in the evening." My mom said, standing up to walk to my father. "Hold on, I'll tell the chefs to make lunch so we can eat together." She says.

"Well" my father starts "The Riego family has agreed to have lunch with us to discuss some matters." My father says

"Tch, does this matter have any relations to the family business? we've never ate together without having to bring up the company." I say in an angry tone.

"Levi-" my mother was cut off by my father.

"All I've ever done was work so we could live a privileged life." He says.

"I never asked for a privileged lif-" I talked back, but I was cut off.

"Listen here young man, you are the future heir of this company. All that I'm doing is to ensure that the company would be lead by an excellent CEO. This is for you own good. Do not ever talk back to me ever again. I mean it, Levi." He said in a deep voice. "The two of you get dressed, And Kuchel, please do tell the chefs to make a fine lunch for six people." He says and finally leaves.

"Levi..." my mother starts.

"I'm sorry" I say.

*At lunch*

As I was sitting by the window, I saw the tall metal gates of our estate open to let in a very luxurious car drive onto our front yard, it stopped right infront of the stairs to the door of our mansion. Soon, butlers came out of their car and opened the car door revealing a good looking man and woman, soon followed a girl about my age.

"Sir Levi" a servant called out to me. "The Riego family are here, your father and mother would like you to be downstairs to greet them" she says.

"Okay" I bluntly say as I got up from my chair.

I went down the wide stairs to see the Riego family already inside the house. I walked down to my parents who were beside the visitors.

"Oh, and this is our son, Levi" my father says with a fake smile fixed onto his face.

"Aw, you've grown to be a handsome man, Levi" The woman with blonde hair said, I'm guessing she's Mrs. Riego.

I could feel their eyes following me with each step I took as I walked down our massive staircase. I made my way down the stairs. I soon made it to where they where standing.

My father soon told us to walk towards the dinning room. The usually empty massive table of our dinning table was now full of life. It had massive platters and delicious food, an endless selection to choose from. It was beautifully decorated with fine table cloths and golden utensils. This will be one of the few times I get to see my family eating in one table.

I sat down on my usual seat and the Riego's daughter sat beside me. I gave her a glare as she sat down. Her head soon turned to me and her green eyes were fixed onto mine.

I looked at my father who was already keeping an eye on me. He gave me a look that clearly read "You better behave and treat her kindly". I let out a sigh before looking back at the girl who sat beside me. I gave her a smile to try to please my father so he wouldn't throw another fit later.

The lunch soon started and my parents and the Riego family were talking. The girl who sat beside me tried to open up several conversations but I gave her short and uninterested responses.

Soon, my father mentioned my name.

"Soon, Levi will be taking over the company once I retire" My father says.

"Well, I'm sure he will become a great successful man, just like you Mr. Ackerman" Mr. Riego says. "A man like Levi would be the perfect husband for my daughter, Clarisse" Mr. Riego adds, in a way that he's hinting to my father that he wants him to set me and that Riego girl up.

My father smiled at the idea. I sighed as I realized where this was going, they actually wanted me and that blonde girl to tie the families together. I knew I didn't have an escape, once my father wanted it there was no turning back. If he agrees I'd have to actually marry this woman.

"You are right, Richard. Levi and Clarisse would make a wonderful couple" My father says smiling at Mr. Riego. "Don't you agree, Levi?" my father turns to me, giving me the look of ' you better agree '

I simply just nodded in response, hoping this lunch would go by faster. I don't want to be stuck here with these people any longer. Let alone be stuck with my manipulative father for another second.

*Several weeks later*

It has been several weeks since I met the Riego family, and without a doubt, my father did go above and beyond to have me and Clarisse set up. I can't even count the number of times Clarisse and I have had lunch or dinner together.

I knew it was all going according to my father's plan, but somehow I didn't quite resent my father's wants. I actually grew to 'like' Clarisse. Sure she was a bit spoiled and acted annoyingly bubbly sometimes but she's still pretty fun to be around. I mean I will be marrying her, might as well stop myself from disliking her so much.

I already knew as a kid that one day my father would do this. I mean him and my father were also an arranged marriage; that's why my mother and father don't get along that often. I found that out from my friend who's parents are my mom's friends. I guess that's why I am an only child too, because they didn't really love each other.

*Time skip to a few months*

"I agree" I say to my father as I sat infront of him in his office.

"I'm glad to see that you're finally coming around." my father says, a smile appearing on his face, happy because I agreed to the arrangement he and the Riego family wants.

I gave my father a smile to please him. Looks like I'm really doing it, I'll be marrying Clarisse.
