Wattpad Indigenous is a Wattpad community that centers and features Indigenous authors, books, contests/challenges, and more here on our favorite story app/website. With such little representation for Indigenous authors, characters and reads, we're missing out on perspective-shifting and life-changing novels, voices and works.
Wattpad Indigenous is open to everyone, no matter how you racially, ethnically or culturally identify, but will remain centering Indigenous perspectives, opportunities, etc. With that being said, we are open and supportive of Biracial Natives joining our community, Native people from around the globe joining our community, and non-Native people participating in our challenges. This is a learning opportunity for everyone to highlight and uplift the importance, creativity, originality, cultural significance, joy, power, liberation and skill of Indigenous writers everywhere. When we learn from ancient and modern speakers, sharing their stories and wisdom, we begin to fully understand Indigenous peoples and where they come from, combatting that crucially detrimental views that most of us have been influenced into believing; this means that by hearing from Indigenous authors, we bond and form community with Indigenous people, and combat the oppressive ideologies that hold back Indigenous peoples.
