Tw: Talk of torture. Sexual undertones? Idk
They had landed on Coruscant, and were staying on the ship one last night before Saida was to hauled away to jail. Unless she gave up the name up the person who hired her to kill senator Kiara Lioma.
Saida leaned back against the wall as Tech examined her for the final time before she was put into a cell for the rest of her life. He had told her he wanted to have a final memory of her so he didn't forget her, so here he was, scanning her again.
Saida suspected he just wanted to check her for medical problems.
But she was fine. She didn't need someone's charity.
She had assassinated someone in the dead of night with nothing but the pillow under their head.
If she could do that, she didn't need their medical supplies.
"Are you certain you do not want me to treat the lacerations on your back?" Tech asked once again.
"I'm sure," Saida rolled her eyes.
"But it can lead to an infection, which can lead to death," Tech protested.
"Well you're putting me in jail! Maybe I'd rather die than spend the rest of my life in a cell," Saida huffed.
"That's... one way to look at it," Tech put his datapad down and walked away to a different room.
Saida put her head against the wall and closed her eyes. Why did stupid Crosshair have to capture her? Now her sister would die without her.
"So Tech tells me you won't let him examine you," Crosshair drawled as he leaned against the wall.
Saida saw Tech peeking out from behind the wall with a smug smirk, knowing this wouldn't work out well for her. She scowled at him but quickly stopped when Crosshair snapped his fingers, drawing her attention.
"So here's what's gonna happen. You're going to let my vod check you for any life threatening injuries one last time before you leave and you're gonna like it," Crosshair slowly said, making sure Saida understood.
"Why should I?" Saida stubbornly asked.
"If you don't," Crosshair pinned his gaze one her, making her nervous, "there'll be consequences to pay."
Saida lifted her chin challengingly. "You think I can't handle pain? Where do you think I got the marks on my back?" She lifted the back of her shirt briefly so they could see the lacerations. "I get punished every time I'm late, every time I mess up, every time I eat more than my share, and you think this'll faze me?"
Tech frowned looking at her wounds. Crosshair hesitated and his fingers twitched at his side.
Saida let her shirt fall back down and leaned against the wall, wincing when it rubbed against her back. "I have gone days without eating simply because I forgot to bow when I entered the room. Your little threats won't do it for me."
"Who inflicted such punishments upon you?" Tech questioned.
"I'm not gonna tell you," Saida shook her head.
"Why not?" Tech wrinkled his forehead.
"I got whipped one time for not tying my shoe. What do you think'll happen if I tell you who they are?" Saida scoffed.
Tech and Crosshair exchanged looks and exited the room. Saida immediately started fiddling with her binders.
They returned, this time with Wrecker and Hunter in tow.
"Listen kid," Hunter started, but Saida interrupted quickly.
"I'm not a kid. In fact, I'm probably older than you," Saida raised her eyebrows.
"Whatever. Point is, if you tell us who did this we can let you go, since you'd no longer be at fault for the attack on the senator and we'll have a new target. How's that sound?" Hunter offered.
"And I'll be free?" Saida skeptically asked.
"Uh huh," Wrecker nodded.
"You'll be free," Hunter confirmed.
Saida thought about it for a minute, mulling over her decision.
On one hand, her sister's life was at risk, at force knows what he'd to to her if he found out about Saida tattling on him.
On the other hand though, the Bad Batch would have to arrest Bluki if she told them. That would leave Saida free to rescue her sister.
"Ok," Saida decided. "I'll tell you who ordered the attack on senator Kiara Lioma."
"Excellent. Would you mind testifying? I can record you right here," Tech held up his datapad.
"Sure," Saida shrugged.
Tech set up the recording and instructed Saida to speak clearly.
"The one who ordered me to attack Kiara Lioma was Bluki the Hutt. He was also the one responsible for the injuries I had before meeting you guys," Saida stated.
"That should be good," Tech said.
"And now I can go?" Saida doubtfully asked.
"Well..." Hunter winced.
"You're going back on your word?" Saida gasped. "You bitch!"
"Isn't that the name for a-" Tech began, but Wrecker cut him off with a warning look.
"There's no need for name calling. I just don't have the authority to pardon you yet," Hunter explained.
"All right bitch," Saida shrugged.
"Why're you still calling me that?" Hunter scowled.
"New nickname for you!" Saida grinned. "Don't you like it?"
"No I don't like it," Hunter huffed.
"Where's Saida gonna sleep? We don't have an extra bunk," Wrecker asked.
Everyone froze, and looked at each other. Where was she going to sleep?
"I'll take the closet. I've slept in worse places," Saida shrugged. "As long as the light's on. I'm scared of the dark."
"So that is the reasoning behind your panic yesterday. Why didn't you say anything before?" Tech tapped something into his datapad.
"You guys didn't give me the chance," Saida shrugged. "Oh, and can you take off the binders now? I told you who wanted the senator dead."
Hunter nodded, and Crosshair stepped forward and undid them. Saida sighed in relief and flexed her wrists.
"Thank you very much. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to turn in for the night. Didn't get much sleep last night," Saida went into the closet, and was relieved when the door was kept open so she could see the light.
But she didn't have any plans to get some rest oh no, she was escaping to get her sister.
