As the days passed relentlessly, a sense of hope began to take root within me, an almost palpable pull at the base of my neck, so to speak. However, the fact that I had journeyed this far without encountering any humans remained a mystery I was not keen on solving.

I continued my journey to find a more substantial source of nourishment, even though the previous meal had been sufficient for only a few hours. But, unfortunately, it had been two days since then, and my hunger had returned.

As I entered the forested area, I couldn't help but feel suspicious. For days, there had been no sign of any forest, yet here it was, lush and green like any other living forest. I found it strange that humanity had not destroyed this part of nature. I decided to explore this place and find out for myself. As I stepped inside the fortress of greenery, I was greeted by the pleasant smells of plant life and the sound of fresh water bubbling in the heart of this place. I followed my instincts, which aided me in finding what I needed, and walked toward the source of the water.

As I approached the source of the sound, I was taken aback by the sheer amount of light that emanated from the pool. The luminance of the water seemed to be amplified by the sunlight that filtered through the clearing, casting a breathtaking array of colors upon the surrounding foliage. The sight was almost too beautiful to behold, and for a moment, I felt a sense of guilt for disrupting the scene's tranquility by drinking from the pool. However, my survival instinct soon took over, and I knew I had no choice but to drink from the pool or perish from dehydration.

While drinking from the pool, my thoughts drifted to my past and the experiences that had brought me to this point. I couldn't help but reflect on the strange events that led to my survival. Death had spared me, even after I had fallen to his claws once. It was a perplexing thought that lingered in my mind. Why had he given me another chance? What had caused Life and Death to reach such a confusing impasse that even a monster like me was to be spared from the coldness and loneliness of death? These questions plagued my mind as I drank from the pool, seeking to quell my thirst and nourish my body.

However, solitude was not my only companion.

Amid the sweet scent that had overtaken the air, I was alerted to the presence of another being and immediately prepared to defend myself. Emerging from the bushes was an individual I had never expected to encounter again. It was none other than Maise Lockwood, the brown-haired girl with kind blue eyes who I had first met and pursued in the past.

Stoically, we observed each other with trepidation etched across the girl's face as I cocked my head in bewilderment, questioning how she was still alive. The last memories I retained were of my demise, and I was convinced that I had slain this girl. Nevertheless, I would not be fooled by any monster's artifice again. With a curt nod, I retreated to a more shaded forest region, determined to stay put and rebuild my strength for a day or two.

As I closed my eyes and surrendered to the enveloping darkness of sleep, my mind began to conjure up vivid images and scenes. Dreams, as they are called, came to me in full force, taking me on a journey that was both surreal and captivating. I was transported to another realm where anything was possible, and the laws of reality did not apply. The world around me was awash with colors and sounds unfamiliar yet strangely comforting. And at that moment, all the pain and anguish that had consumed me before seemed to vanish, replaced by a sense of peace and serenity.

Upon awakening, a sense of tranquility pervaded my being, prompting a peculiar sensation of unfamiliarity.

Despite the unusual sensation, I promptly rose from my slumber and surveyed my surroundings, firmly determined to persevere despite any emotional impediments. I needed to eliminate Wu for the betterment of the future of the dinosaurs.

As I rose, I shook off the seeped water through my nails. Then, stepping out of the forest, I felt the warmth and sun against my black tar scales, an unpleasant but not harmful sensation. The sun's energy permeated my scales as I walked forward, creating a unique feeling I couldn't describe.

I sighed deeply and continued walking, barely a blurry outline in the scorching desert sun. Despite the harsh environment, I couldn't shake the memory of the human girl I had seen. It went against everything I had been taught not to do - never to harm a human - but I knew I wasn't that monster anymore. I wasn't even a monster at all. The thought lingered in my mind as I journeyed on through the desert.

Suddenly, the scent trail of horses hit my nostrils, and it piqued my interest. It had been long since I had smelled those majestic creatures, and the aroma brought back memories. As I continued, I noticed the sand giving way to asphalt, and my heart sank. Dread pooled in my stomach as I realized that after a week of walking away from that death place, I had finally arrived back in human territory.

Little did I know, the perils awaited me beyond anything I could have ever foreseen.
