Pain stabbed through me as I woke, and I couldn't discern whether it was the agony of my broken heart or the fact that my wounds had started to ooze red again. I lay on the ground, littered with pine needles, as Red approached, his immense snout twitching, teeth bared in concern.

"We need to get you some medication," he rumbled, leaning down and picking me up by the scruff of my neck. I was too broken, both physically and emotionally, to resist or protest. In that moment, I allowed him to handle me, just as I had once been handled by the humans, too shattered to muster the strength to run or to tell him otherwise.

Oh, how the mighty have sunken, my inner voice muttered sarcastically, a bitter reminder of the first time I had heard from it in what felt like an eternity. I could only grimace in agreement.

The towering Ultimasaurus proved surprisingly gentle for a creature of its immense size. It carried me across the forest floor for a good mile before gently setting me down. It was then that I noticed the glistening presence of water nearby, a lifeline in the midst of our arduous journey. I leaned down, the cool liquid a soothing balm against my parched throat.

"We'll have to find someone else to help us," Red grumbled as he settled down for a brief respite. I grunted in agreement, fully aware that our options were limited in this world dominated by humans.

"There is no one else out here. This is a man's world, not a world teeming with dinosaurs," I replied, my tone heavy with resignation. Red snorted, his large claws scraping the ground.

"I know well enough that threatening anyone won't compel them to help us," he conceded, raising his claws in surrender. "But where should we go, then? Somewhere else?"

I pondered his question, our predicament weighing heavily on my mind.

Then, a glimmer of hope flickered within me. I remembered that there were creatures in these woods who might be able to aid us. I croaked out, my voice filled with a newfound optimism, "I might know someone."

I looked up at my friend Red, who tilted his head inquisitively. "How?" he rumbled, clearly intrigued by the possibility.

A slow smile crept across my face. "There are creatures in this forest, beings of magic and power. They might possess the ability to help us," I explained, my excitement growing. I started to rise, but Red hissed skeptically.

"You mean dragons? Those things are just fairytales, Ripper. They're not real," he insisted, his doubt evident.

I shot him a knowing look and stood up, brushing the dirt off my scales. Red sighed, muttering, "Fine." With that reluctant agreement, he grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and carried me deeper into the heart of the forest, our destination set on the realm of myth and legend.

The forest began to darken around us as we delved deeper into its heart. A shiver coursed through my scaled frame as an ominous feeling settled in. Suddenly, the forest seemed to creak and groan, and the distant sound of thunder reached our ears. My heart raced as the source of this disturbance drew near—an immense beast, larger than anything I had ever encountered. Its scales shimmered in the dappled sunlight that filtered through the trees, and its golden eyes blazed with a fierce intensity.

"Who are you that would dare enter our domain?" the dragon thundered, its deep and angry voice shaking the very ground beneath us. Red twitched and gently lowered me to the forest floor.

"I am Ripper, and this is my friend, Red. We need help," I said, my voice steady despite the overwhelming presence of the dragon. I stared up at the magnificent creature, its eyes scanning my marred body with a critical gaze. The dragon sniffed the air, then lashed its tail in thought.
