I hissed, my eyes fixed on the blue-grey raptor before me. Its deadly claws glistened with an ominous blackness, mirroring the darkness that consumed my being. A surge of hatred coursed through my veins, fueling my resolve and renewing my strength.
"Hello, Ripper," she snarled back, her tail lashing with hostility. "Didn't think you would be alive," she taunted. I snorted in disdain, my fury mounting as I lunged at her. "I died because of you!" I roared, my voice filled with raw anger.
Blue laughed mockingly, swiftly evading my attack with agile grace.
"I did indeed, and now I can have the pleasure of doing it again," she sneered, her voice dripping with malice. Then, with a fierce roar, she lashed out, her claws slashing across my snout, leaving behind deep, bleeding gashes. I yelped in pain, shaking my head violently, dispersing warm droplets of blood in the air.
I retorted fiercely, my elongated claws tearing through her scales like mere skin. Instead, they left behind deep, lasting marks that would remind them of this encounter, much like that fateful day on the rooftop.
"Rrr, you never gave me a chance," I snapped, my jaws clamping tightly around her throat. Then, with every ounce of strength, I drove my fangs into her skin, applying relentless pressure, ensuring she felt the same excruciating pain I had experienced when she abandoned me to die; my skull pierced beyond repair.
"Gah! I-I had to do it," she choked out, blood seeping between her lips, staining her grey snout. "Or-or else you would've killed us all," she gasped, her voice strained with desperation.
I snorted with disdain, thrashing my head violently, shaking her body like a rag doll, before finally releasing my grip. She collided with a nearby tree, the impact accompanied by a sickening crack. Yet, to my surprise, she rose again, undeterred. I hissed, perplexed by her resilience, contemplating the strength of this vermin as I clicked my claws together, readying myself for the next round.
"Like I ever had a chance," I murmured bitterly. "You never let me see the world like your master did. He never allowed me to realize that I could be good and serve him in any other way than through killing." My voice carried a tinge of longing, a yearning for a different path that had been denied to me.
Blue's eyes shimmered with a mix of emotions as she shook her head, her wounds oozing dark red blood mirroring mine. We were undeniably different, yet an underlying similarity bound us together.
At that moment, a sad realization dawned upon us both. We shared a joint pain - the abandonment by our human masters, left to perish in the face of adversity. Yet, though our paths had diverged, we were united by the scars of betrayal and the will to survive against all odds.
"I am... not seeking pity," she snarled, her words laced with defiance. Then, she lunged at me with a twisted sense of amusement, causing me to jerk back instinctively. Her claws found purchase in my tender hide, and a howl of agony escaped my lips. AtAt that moment, I realized the tables had turned, and I fell under her dominance.
Her sickle claw pressed into my chest, rending me beneath her formidable strength. Her eyes blazed with a deep-seated hatred, and her words dripped with disdain. "You hybrids are all the same, killing without seeing the light for what it is. You fail to recognize that there is goodness in this world, and that not all beings desire to harm you. My alpha wanted to help, but I..." Her voice faltered as I shook my head, a surge of determination coursing through me. Then, swiftly, my back claws retaliated, slashing a deadly gash across her vulnerable stomach.
"Stop talking," I sneered, rising on all fours, my posture now dominant and commanding.
Blue stared up at me, her confusion evident in her eyes, unable to comprehend the sudden surge of strength I displayed. I inched closer, my voice a low, blood-soaked whisper. "You wouldn't let me get that chance, just like he did. You are no different from him, from those humans and the poison they've instilled in your mind."
I bared my teeth, sinking them mercilessly into Blue's neck, refusing to show any semblance of mercy. I had never been shown mercy before and vowed never to succumb to anything soft and fluffy again.
But then, unexpectedly, my thoughts flashed with the image of a little human girl named Isabel. I could almost feel the weight of her disappointment if she could see me now. What am I doing? I questioned myself, my eyes flicking to Blue's, colliding in a clash of emotions. This wasn't the path I had chosen for myself. I wasn't meant to be a mindless killer anymore.
Blue gurgled something, but I couldn't decipher her words. I stepped back, my head hanging low as tears stung my eyes. Thoughts of Isabel swirled in my mind, overwhelming me with a mix of guilt and regret.
"R... Ripper?" Blue attempted to speak, but her throat was too sore, too damaged to articulate the words clearly. Instead, she coughed up blood, spattering the once-green grass beneath us, now stained a deep crimson.
"No... no, no," I whispered, my hands clawing at my head as Isabel's overwhelming thoughts and voice threatened to push me into madness. "Ripper!" Blue barked, snapping me back to the present moment. I then realized that I had begun inflicting wounds upon myself that wouldn't heal quickly. I shook my head, stepping back, distancing myself from Blue and retreating from the abyss that threatened to consume me.
"Ripper," she called out as I sprinted away, refusing to look back. Tears stained my vision, blurring the world around me as I crashed through the undergrowth, the trees becoming a blur. I didn't stop running until the trees did, and then I sank onto the ground, shaking with the weight of my emotions. I cried, the sound of my anguish mingling with the rustling leaves and the quiet solitude of the forest.
I cried until I had no more tears to give, and then darkness enveloped me again, lasting for what felt like an eternity. At that moment, I no longer cared. All I yearned for was the sweet release of death, to be granted the mercy that had eluded me for far too long.
Yet death did not come. Instead, it seemed to taunt me, eluding my grasp and leaving me trapped in the torment of my existence. The darkness persisted, the agony lingering, as I faced the cruel reality that my plea for mercy had gone unanswered.
