"It's hot," Yeonjun complained, fanning his face with a coaster. In the middle of July, another heat wave approached. Annoyingly enough the air con stopped working just recently. However, it didn't hold them back from meeting up in the garage. It was the only place that could contain all of them without their parents constantly checking on them.
Once, when they met at Yeonjun's, his mother would come into his room twice in just five minutes, asking about food and drinks. It felt nice, but to the point, they sat in silence for two hours afraid of doing or talking about anything and having been interrupted by her. A similar thing happened when they wanted to meet at Kai's house. His younger sister was even younger than now, and would always want to hang out with them, hence they didn't have the chance to play any horror games but played Mario instead. His older sister refused to take care of her, leaving the girl to the rest of them.
However, they never went to Beomgyu's. There were times when they would drop him off after school or visit him on his birthdays when they were just young boys. For a few years, they haven't stepped foot in there, and it was because Beomgyu never invited them or mentioned why he was spending days at Taehyun's.
"Pool?" Kai suggested, he took his eyes off the game and looked at his friends.
They pondered for a while, before checking answers with each other. Yeonjun looked pleased, it was the best time for the pool, as he felt like melting. Soobin didn't like water activities, however, he was hot too, and wanted to cool off somewhere. Taehyun observed Beomgyu's reaction. The boy concealed his worry with a smile and nodded, so he did the same. The bruises on Beomgyu's body haven't faded yet, and it worried him. The rest could figure out something bad happened to him, and Beomgyu would be cornered to answer all of their questions. He didn't want his boyfriend to go through something so difficult again.
My boyfriend, Taehyun thought about it. Calling him like that came surprisingly easy for him. For the past week, they spent together every second, to the point where they would unconsciously hold hands with each other. The giggling or whispering in their world felt exactly like the first love Taehyun always imagined to feel.
"I hope it's still there," Yeonjun sighed. Soobin, who sat beside him, budged his shoulder wanting him to explain. "Last year, we set the pool out in the old swimming pool building. There's still a functional water source, so we were able to fill it up. But do you really think no one took it?" He asked the rest of his friends.
"We'll have to see," Taehyun answered, he looked at everyone. "Let's go before we melt."
"Wait, how could someone take the pool," Soobin asked visibly confused. If it was an abandoned swimming pool building, then the pool should be there all the time.
"The smaller pool in the pool. Do you really think we would fill the whole pool just like that?" Beomgyu laughed at him.
"Fuck off," Soobin responded and shifted his eyes in different direction.
"Everyone got their rides?" Kai asked smiling, he walked to his skateboard.
"You can take my bike," Taehyun whispered to Beomgyu. His skateboard was left in his house, and he had no courage to go there to get it yet.
"Um, I don't have anything." Soobin scratched his head, he unconsciously looked at Yeonjun.
"You'll just use my bike with me," he answered, with no hesitation.
Whenever the two went to Taehyun's hang-out spot, Yeonjun rode a bike, but Soobin would tag along on his feet. Since, the road to the abandoned swimming pool place was farther than the distance between their houses, he decided to share his ride. Soobin's heart skipped a beat faster, he tried to hold his smile back.
