"... and that's how I burned my in-laws kitchen." The boy sitting at the counter stared at the older man, shocked by the story. "Anyway, I don't know why it's taking them so long to clean one bathroom," Soobin's dad commented. "You can go check on them, Kai. Thanks for keeping me company. My son won't do that anymore..." He pretended to cry, so Kai chuckled. However, deep down he suspected that the old man was upset.
"It's alright, I'm sure they are busy," Kai said, finishing his orange juice calmly.
"Kai is downstairs..." Soobin whispered to Yeonjun. They were standing just before the stairs when they heard their friend's voice."
"Quick, am I red?" Yeonjun turned his face to Soobin. They stood inches away from each other.
The blond boy stared at his friend's face, and a slight smile appeared. He slowly raised his hands and held Yeonjun's face. He squished his cheeks, then leaned to peck his duck lips.
Yeonjun's eyes widened, and he stared at Soobin, while his eyes slowly blinked.
"Your dad is there," Yeonjun stuttered. However, Soobin didn't let go of his face and leaned for another kiss. "Kai will hear..." Yeonjun giggled, while Soobin was giving him countless pecks on his lips and nose, then cheeks.
"Guys?"
Yeonjun pushed Soobin away when they heard their friend's voice calling them from downstairs. He probably noticed a commotion only but didn't know what his friends were doing. Yeonjun panicked anyway.
"No word to him about it." He raised his finger between their faces to warn his friend. "Yo, Kai, what are you doing here?"
Yeonjun left Soobin and ran down the stairs to greet his other friend. Soobin sighed and let a slight smirk appear on his face, then he shook his face. He slowly went downstairs to join the rest.
"Everything's clean, Mr. Choi," Yeonjun stated and sat on the chair at the kitchen island. Soobin saw an empty spot beside him and sat there quickly, forcing Kai to choose a different seat, deeper in the kitchen.
The boy observed his friends and noticed the weird aura above them. He chuckled and sat at the table.
"Took you long enough," Soobin's dad joked. He opened the shelf and took out the two glasses, then he poured some orange juice for them. "I've had a nice chat with Kai in the meantime."
"What were you talking about..?" Soobin asked hesitantly sipping on his juice. He already had made enough problems for his dad, and Kai accidentally telling on him would make it worse.
On the other hand, he naturally rested on Yeonjun's thigh, causing him to flinch. He tried to conceal his reaction by grabbing the glass of juice and drinking.
"Just simple catching up," his dad answered laughing. "Are you scared? Is there something you don't want me to know?"
I don't want you to know that your son has his hand on my thigh, god please move back. Yeonjun kept on thinking. A single kitchen counter was dividing them and the old man.
"No, just curious what a high schooler might be talking with an adult of a middle-life crisis age," Soobin answered putting his glass down.
"Soobin... You'll get us in more trouble," Yeonjun whispered next to him. He felt the atmosphere suddenly tense, just like the hand slowly gripping his thigh.
"That's how we joke, it's okay," Soobin answered smiling at him.
"That's right," his dad reassured Soobin's friends with a smile. "What do you want for dinner? Let me know and I'll order for you."
