The next several weeks went by uneventful, normal touring routine. The only exception was Lindsey doing everything he could think of to keep Stevie from pushing him away. Not that she was planning to, not even after the talk they had on her birthday, he'd simply convinced himself. Although, she would be lying if she said, she didn't enjoy the extra attention and all the small gestures. The fans picked up on it too, since their love affair was showing on stage more than it had been in recent years. Lindsey had already had a couple unpleasant conversations over the phone with his wife about it, but he assured her that it was just for the show, like he always did.

"Are you planning on staying in bed all day?" Lindsey asked, standing in the bedroom, a toothbrush in his mouth, wearing nothing but his boxers.

"I might go out for some shopping later." Stevie shrugged, resting her back against a mountain of pillows, only halfway through her breakfast. "Why, you wanna join me?"

"Oh dear God no." Lindsey shook his head, turning around to go back to the bathroom to rinse out the toothpaste. "I was wondering if maybe you'd like to go to dinner tonight or something? We have the night off."

"Maybe." Stevie replied, flipping through a magazine with her free hand. "Depends on where you're taking me."

"We're in New York, baby, the possibilities are endless." Lindsey answered, reaching for his razor.

"Hmm... I might have to buy something nice to wear then." Stevie wondered aloud. "Aren't you worried about us going out alone, just the two of us?"

Lindsey reappeared a second later, half of his face covered in shaving cream. "I told you to stop worrying, didn't I?"

"Yes, but I don't want you to get in trouble." Stevie shrugged.

"No, I'm not worried." Lindsay said, returning to the bathroom again.

So that was the plan for the day. Lindsey was going to spend some time by himself, while Stevie went out with Karen and her girls for a shopping spree. They agreed that she'd be back and ready at around 7pm and he'd book them a table at a restaurant of his choosing. They kissed goodbye and separated until later that evening.

"Uh, Stevie?" Karen tapped Stevie on the shoulder from the back of a black SUV.

"Yeah?" Stevie glanced back at her assistant.

"Are you busy tonight?"

"Are you planning on taking me out to dinner, too?" Stevie questioned back, laughing at Karen's confused expression. "Actually, yes. Lindsey and I have plans."

"Gross." Lori said, making a face.

"It's dinner." Stevie emphasized, rolling her eyes. "Why?" She looked at her assistant again.

"Oh, nothing." Karen shook her head, typing on her phone. Not a minute passed by, when... "What about tomorrow then?"

Stevie frowned. "You know it's show night, so yeah, I'll be busy."

"No, but after." Karen added, hoping that her questions didn't come across as suspicious.

Stevie thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I guess, not."

"Alright, thanks." Karen nodded her head as she looked down at her phone again.

'Free tomorrow.'
