Mick inhaled deeply and turned his head to face Stevie, who was lying in bed beside him. They'd been silent for at least half an hour and he was beginning to feel uncomfortable, but she didn't seem to want to talk.

"I'm not entirely sure how this is supposed to go." Mick spoke up at last, unable to stand the dead silence any longer.

"Yeah, Christine is much better at this." Stevie laughed weakly, now facing him too. "I just didn't know who else to talk to, since you already know."

"I'm happy to listen." Mick shrugged with a smile as he turned on his side and propped himself up on his elbow. "I take it things aren't going so well, huh. It feels like Stevie Nicks has rejoined the tour, but you haven't."

Stevie thought about his statement for a second, she nodded her head. "I guess, that's one way to put it. My heart stayed back in California, that's for sure. I-" Her throat tightened. "I broke it off."

"I'm sorry." Mick gave her a sympathetic look.

"It was the right thing to do." Stevie shrugged, sitting up, she hugged her knees to her chest. "We were insane to even start anything, let alone believe that it could become something."

"What made you do it?" Mick reached behind his back to blindly grab his bottle of beer.

"I began feeling guilty." Stevie replied honestly. "It's not exactly right, what we were doing."

"Have you ever felt that with Lindsey?" He immediately noticed a flash of anger in her otherwise sad eyes. "Okay, we don't have to talk about Lindsey."

"No, it's fine." She sighed heavily. "My relationship with Lindsey was different. Don't ask me how, but it was. It's like we'd never really broken up. In one way or another, we kinda stayed together throughout all these years. I was there before the family."

Mick hesitated for a moment then carefully asked. "Your relationship with Lindsey was different?"

"Yes." Stevie nodded, sounding completely sure. "That very long chapter is finally closed. Dave reminded me of what it feels like to be loved and in love again. Whatever Lindsey and I had, for the longest time, that wasn't it."

"Hold up." Mick frowned and moved to sit up. "You're... in love?"

"You don't have to mock me for saying that." She lowered her eyes, feeling vulnerable and almost embarrassed.

"No, no." Mick rushed to deny he was about to make fun of her. "I simply didn't realize that it was this serious."

"It's stupid, I know." Stevie shrugged weakly. "I'm in love with one of my closest friends, who happens to be twenty years younger and married. Again." She rolled her eyes, now mocking herself. "But I can't help how I feel. That is why I broke things off. Before it became unbearable." She added.

"How did Dave react?" Mick asked, curious. He recalled that party they all attended and if he had to guess, Dave felt the same about Stevie.

"Uh-" Stevie shook her head. "I don't know. I couldn't talk to him face to face, so I handed him a letter before I left. It's been two weeks and I haven't heard from him." She hated to even think that, but... "Either he hasn't read it yet or I didn't mean to him as much as I believed I did."

Mick thought about it for a minute, he cleared his throat. "Do you maybe think that he's feeling the exact same as you are? Maybe you're not the only, whose heart's been broken?"

Of course she wanted to think that. "I expected him to call at least. I mean, I had to push him away for some time, so his wife wouldn't get suspicious because he couldn't stay away and now nothing? I doubt he's going through what I'm going through."

The conversation continued about another hour. Since they no longer used any substances to keep them up at night, Mick couldn't stop yawning and Fleetwood Mac had and early flight the next morning, so they called it a night. Stevie thanked him for his effort and they said, goodnight.

Feeling only slightly better, Stevie went through her nightly routine. Why hasn't Dave called, she kept obsessing over it as she pulled down the covers and got into bed. She desperately wanted to know what was going through his mind. What if she called him?

Instead of her own phone, Stevie used the one in her hotel room, after approximately calculating the time difference. She waited, her heart was beating out of her chest. It was a stupid idea, she was about to hang up, when-

"Hello?"

She went numb.

"Um, hi?"

God, it felt so wonderful to hear his voice...

"I-" Stevie began, but nothing else came out.

"If this is a prank, it's not very funny."

The line went dead.

Did she give herself away? Did he know it was her? Didn't sound like it. Stevie sighed and put the phone away. She turned the bedside lamp off, hoping to get a bit of much needed sleep.

AN: Just a filler to keep you guessing a little longer; do Stevie and Dave reunite, does she go back to Lindsey or neither of the two happens? Also, did I at least slightly scare you in the beginning? Thank you for reading ♥
