I run to meet the little ones every needs. Taylor needs her warm milk, Kyle needs his blanket to sleep. Usually these things would calm them down, today, nothing, could stop the crying."C'mon Taylor the milk is warm." I plead.
"Too cold!" She screams throwing the cup.
I inhale and go to pick up the cup. I go into the kitchen and heat up the cup. I look over and grab the bottle. The microwave goes off and I also pick up Taylor's cup. I run over, give Taylor the cup, and give Kyle his bottle. For a moment, it's all silent.
I let out a huge sigh and plop onto the couch."Too..... Cold!" Taylor says throwing the cup, again. The cup hits Kyle's playpen, causing him to cry too.
"Why can't you both just sleep?" I cry out. My head finds its way to my hands and my breathing once again becomes heavier.
My door bursts open and Harry walks in.
"The party has arrived." He says. "Brooke..?"
I look up to see a concerned harry. "Sorry, if you can't tell, they won't stop crying."
He looks at the kids then back to me. "They just need love." He smiles. He walks over to Taylor and picks her up.
"Hawwy!" She screams. He replies by kissing her cheek.
"So she's happy when you're here, but not when her aunt is caring for her. Cool."
"I'm good with kids." He shrugs. Kyle screams.
"Can you be good with that one too?" I laugh. I walk over and pick him up, he continues to cry.
"Just like, bounce him." Harry says.
"He doesn't like being bounced."
"Kiss him."
"You or the baby?" I smirk.
"Either one works, but you should probably kiss the child." He smirks.
I roll my eyes and kiss Kyle on the cheek. Instantly he smiles and makes a slight gurgle.
"See?" Harry laughs. I chuckle and put him back in his playpen, and harry puts Taylor on the couch.
"Finally." I say plopping onto the other couch. "I'm so exhausted." I groan.
"Lay down then. They're both falling asleep."
"Good, taylor is so cranky."
"When does your sister get back?"
"Tomorrow." I sigh.
"What's she doing?"
I didn't even respond, I was too busy enjoying the silence. My eyes close and before I knew it, I fell asleep.
My eyes flutter open. I look around, taylor is fast asleep on the couch, but harry is gone. I look over to see Harry standing near the tv, rocking Kyle to sleep. He doesn't notice me staring at him, his eyes are locked on Kyle's. He finally, very carefully, puts Kyle into the playpen. He tuns back around and faces me."Brooke, go back to sleep, babe. I got them covered." He smiles.
"Harry, why'd you let me sleep?"
"Because." He says walking over to me and kneeling down. "You were really stressed out and tired, so I let you sleep. Apparently, I made the right choice, because now they're both asleep."
"Thank you." I say.
He stands to his full height once again. "I'm getting tired too, guess I should go home." He says.
"Okay."
He walks closer to the door. "Home." He says. I raise my eyebrow. "All alone. No one but me..... And my mom but still, that's lonely." He sighs.
"Harry for gods sake just stay here."
"Well since you're offering." He says joining me on the couch.
I yawn and get up. "I'll get the blankets." I walk into my dad's room, which is empty. My dad work makes him go away for weekends sometimes. I grab the blankets and walk back out into the living room.
"You can have the couch. I'll sleep on the floor." I say.
"Why?"
"You're the guest."
"Bullshit. We can both fit on the couch." I roll my eyes and sit on the couch.
"You're a pain in the ass, you know that?" I say laying down.
"I know." He says laying down on top of me. His head rests on my chest and our legs intertwined.
"This wasn't what I was thinking when you said we could both fit on the couch." I laugh, playing
with his hair."Cuddling saves space."
"Harry?"
"Hmm?"
"Why do you always go after girls with names that start with 'A'?"
"I don't know, I don't try to." He chuckles.
"Harry?"
"Yes brooke?"
"...goodnight." I sigh.
"Night cookie." He says. I pull up the blanket so it's not covering him.
For the first time in a long time, I'm going to bed, happy.
