Farewell and confession

The entire week passed in a blur. Everything comes to an end similarly Abiha's stay also had to end. She had already packed her stuff, the only thing left was conveying the news of her departure to the entire family. She was dreading it.

Last night her PA informed her how she was needed back in her office and no matter how much she wanted to stay she couldn't. There were people relying on her and Abiha wasn't one to let her peeps down.

She was a bit worried about her grandmother and thats why she had come to the decision of taking her grandparents with her.

Abiha had created her own small world in New York, no matter how lonely she was there she had somehow got accustomed with it. Her trail of thoughts were broken by the ringing of the phone. Sheryaar's name flasked in it.

"Biha, the jet is ready to take off in 2 hours", he said. There was a complete silence after that, no one talking. One would think as if the call got disconnected but Sheryaar knew about his friend a little too well.

"I am here for you Abiha, take your time, I will be waiting in the airport" saying this he disconnected the call.

Signing, Abiha went downstairs to see all her cousins chilling and teasing each other. Taimur was still in the office, something she was thankful for. She knew he wouldn't let her go this time. Her uncles were in their own world, one sipping tea and reading newspaper while the other one was going through his phone.

"Tayi Ammi", whispered Abiha while Tooba hummed busy cutting the vegetables.

Suddenly Abiha's throat felt dry, she licked her dry lips.

Noticing Abiha's silent state, Tooba looked at her with a frown. Her heart suddenly hammered, call it a mother's instinct but Tooba felt as if something bad was about to happen.

Abiha closed her eyes and when she open it, her face held a determination.

"Tayi Ammi, my flight is in 2 hours, I am leaving for New York today"

Pin drop silence.

Everyone stopped from what they were doing. All eyes on them. Suddenly a cry was heard from Rubana. Abiha looked at her dadi and crouched down.

"Dadi, I want you and dadu to come with me"

Again pin drop silence.

"Did someone say something you didn't like?", asked Maryam in concern.

"No choti ammi, my PA called last night, my presence is required there", said Abiha.

"I want to go with Abiha", said Rubana all of a sudden.

"Ammi you can't just suddenly leave us like that", said Akram who had been quite all these time.

"I don't care, I won't leave my granddaughter alone this time, I am going with her. You all have each other, she doesn't. I won't be able to show my face to Arham or Aisha after my death", said Rubana emotionally.

Junaid agreed with his wife. It was then settled that Abiha's grandparent would be travelling with her.

"Dadi, how will we pack everything in an hour?", questioned Maheen.

"Dadi, take only the things necessary, I will tell my PA to buys other stuff on the way", said Abiha.

Everyone was now bidding farewell to Abiha, Rubana and Junaid. Sheryaar had already made his men put the belonging in the jet.
