I'm so nervous." You suddenly announced, burying your head in your hands as discouragement began to take over.
The library was quiet due to the late night hours. The quietness was extremely helpful while you studied and prepared for a big presentation that you had to give the next morning for Defense Against the Dark Arts. You were grateful for the lack of distractions. There wasn't a single soul around other than you and Harry, who was sitting patiently next to you. He had been playing with his wand, pointing it at random objects and examining some of the scratches on his magical tool. Harry was easily entertained, so he didn't mind waiting while you worked on brushing up on your presentation. He paused his self-entertainment when he heard you break the silence, his head whipping to you from where he sat in the chair across from you.
"Why, angel? You know this stuff inside and out." Harry grinned.
"It's just so much information and I have to narrow it down to a five minute speech," You explained, letting out an exasperated sigh. "I don't know if what I have is the best information to talk about or if I should change it around or-"
"Hey - you're stressing yourself out." Harry remarked, nudging your foot with his from under the table as a show of concern.
"Of course I am. I did so badly on that last exam, I really need this to be perfect." You replied, tapping the end of your feather quill nervously on the table.
"You've been ready for this project for days now. You'll do incredible," Harry's proud grin faded into more of an encouraging smile. "I'll be there, so you don't have to be nervous."
His words were slightly comforting. It did offer you a sense of repose to know that Harry would be there to support you. It was an extra credit opportunity, and not one that everyone had taken advantage of – Harry was one of those people, because DADA just came so easily to him. Harry knew how much you cared about this presentation, and his mutual support was definitely helpful. You were trying to keep in mind that the other extra credit takers were in the same boat as you, so you weren't alone in this.
You had been working on this assignment for almost a week, and you were plain sick of doing it. You were ready and anxious to get it over with, because you were ready to move on to the next thing. Harry had assisted you in research and note-taking, as well as actually putting your project presentation together. He had been a huge helping hand, and you were beyond grateful for his patience.
"Don't worry, darling," Harry took your hand into his, kissing the palm of your hand. "You'll be brilliant."
****
The presentation was flawless.
You hadn't been very thrilled about your Defense class being the last one of the day because then it allowed you to worry about it all day. The day went by quickly, and before you had enough time to accept it – it was showtime. Despite your initial lack of confidence, once you were up on your feet in front of the class and reciting your project just as you had rehearsed, you relaxed into it and gave a knockout speech. There was no doubt that you had received full points and full credit for the extra credit assignment, which was a massive relief to your struggling grade. Harry sat in his usual seat, watching you give your presentation with a certain proud glow. He never once had any doubt in your abilities, and he was beyond pleased that you had unsurprisingly exceeded his expectations.
"That was fantastic, my love!" Harry praised, scooping you into his arms for an enthralled embrace once class was dismissed and the two of you were out in the corridor.
The smile on your face was blinding, and the sight of it made his heart so very happy. Harry squeezed you lovingly, peppering your face with kisses only when you pulled away.
"Was it really?" You asked.
"Yes! Positively astounding!" Harry beamed, pressing a kiss to your smiling lips, "Oh, I am so proud of you. That couldn't have been any better."
You couldn't have done it without Harry, and it warmed your heart to hear him so prideful for you.. He kissed you again, this time less rushed and more passionate than before. Harry had always been so supportive, and it never got old to hear him have such admiration
"So, what do you say we get a quick nap before dinner?" Harry suggested.
Your smile didn't leave your face for the rest of the day, and with Harry around –  you'd always be the happiest that you could be.
"Absolutely."
