Unseen darkness

You know that feeling you get, the one that comes from the pit of your stomach, the one that's telling you something's not right. Well that's what I'm feeling now, my name is Lucy and at this moment I'm walking home on my own at two in the morning because my so called best friend got a better offer. Damn you Jade! I'm freaking out, it's dark and cold and I keep hearing footsteps but every time I look around there's nobody there. God I can be so paranoid sometimes, this is so silly I'm a grown woman, I'll be home in less than five minutes. "OH SHIT!" Great, just great, just when I think this night can't get any worse. I break my heel on my favourite pair of bang bang shoes. Ok this is it, this is how it's going down, girl on her own at two in the morning, broken heel and now sitting on the side of the road, so horror movie. Come on Lucy get it together, you're 23 for gods sake, as I remove my now ruined shoes I hear them again, footsteps, where the hell are they coming from? As I look around I get up and grab my shoes, nobody, nothing, what the hell, am i going mad?. I start to walk, I get faster as I hear the footsteps getting louder oh shit I'm going to die or get mugged or god knows what.

"BOO" I jump and let out a terrified scream "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha" she laughs in my face.

"FUCK! JADE YOU BITCH, YOU SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME" I have to catch my breathe, and my heart is pounding "where the hell did you come from." She carries on laughing, oh yeah it's so funny scaring me half to death.

"My god that was so funny I can't stop ha ha ha ha, ok, ha ha ha ha, no can't stop, ha ha ha, I'm sorry Lucy ha ha ha"

"JADE!"

"Ok, sorry, god calm down, it was just a joke,"

"Just a joke! God I could kill you." I look around the empty street "Why aren't you with Mr hottie? did he blow you off?" I laugh as I say it, Jade gives me a killer look.

"Ha funny, no he was just here, it was his idea to make sure you got home ok."

"Oh thanks, so you couldn't give a shit then?" I give her my sad eyes.

"Come on you're a big girl, you can walk home on your own, it's not like you haven't done it before."

"Yeah you're right, every time I go out with you, you find a new Mr hottie"

"Bitch" God if looks could kill I think I'd be dead.

"Oh come on it was only a joke!" I give her a cheesy grin

"Funny."

"So, Mr hottie, where is he?"

"I don't know"she has a quick look around, "LEO WHERE ARE YOU?" She shouts as load as she can "LEO! Where the hell did he go?"

"Jade what's going on?" I'm so not in the mood for this shit "Are you two trying to scare me again?"

"No I swear he was right here"

"Let's just get out of here, it's late, I'm freezing, I've got no shoes on and I'm freaking out" This is so not funny.

"But what about Leo?"

"Jade you just met him, you'll meet another hottie next time we're out" and I'll walk home on my own yet again!

" but he could be the one"

"OH MY GOD, Jade they have all been the one, now come on I want to go home!"

"but-but, LEO WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!"

"JADE! I'm going, are you coming or not?"

"FINE, lets go."

We start off towards my apartment, Jade is dragging her heels sulking over the loss of Mr Hottie, good rid-dens I say. Jade is my best friend and I love her to bits but when it comes to men she's got a serious problem, she jumps in head first and it's all love at first sight and "he's the one" then it all goes wrong And all I hear for the next two weeks are "Why hasn't he phoned, he's not answering his phone, I think I really love him, I can't live without him, and then I step in and pick her back up, get her going again, and that's why we're out tonight. I was trying to cheer her up, I thought we would go for a drink have a dance and a laugh, but no, it's always the same. She gets dumped, I take her out an she finds a new hottie that she'll fall for, and I walk home on my own. Well at least this time Mr Hottie has done one before the sex, maybe she won't take it that bad this time.
