Unseen darkness

Chapter nine Lucy's POV

Lucy's POV

"Angel wake up" her voice flows through me, it's so warm, so loving, I know that voice "Come on angel, wake up." It can't be, I open my eyes and there she is, sitting on the edge of the bed, just like I remember her. Her bright green eyes shinning with love, her big smile and her long golden hair falling over her shoulders in waves.

"M-m-m" I can't get my words out, its like I've been punched in the stomach and the air has been knocked out of me. Tears cloud my vision, this can't be real, she cups my cheek and wipes a tear away with her thumb.

"Don't cry angel"

"Mommy" I breathe as I put my hand over hers to keep it on my cheek "is this real?" Please god let this be real, please let me have my mommy back, she gives me a sad smile and shakes her head. Loss and disappointment crashes through me, more tears roll down my cheeks. "I miss you so much" I cry, she pulls me close and wraps her arms around me, it feels so real, I can even smell her perfume.

"I've missed you too angel" I rest my head on her shoulder as I try to catch my breath. "I'm so sorry I had to leave you." She whispers and strokes my hair, more tears flow and I'm finding it hard to breathe. She pulls away to look at my face, cupping it in both hands. "You've grown in to such a beautiful young woman" I close my eyes and give her a sad laugh, every mother thinks their child is beautiful.

"Am I dreaming?" She removes her hands from my face to hold my hands, I open my eyes to see a look of sadness and something else, anxiousness?

"Yes, but what I'm here to tell you is very real and very important" I look at her in confusion "it's time you knew who you really are, and ........ What you really are." Oh god, first Leo now my own mother, well a dream version of my mother, why do they think I'm something else.? I take a deep breath and look around the room, it's only then I realise where I am, I'm home, I'm in my own bed.

"Leo" I whisper and look back at my mother, I don't know why but the fact he's not here with me makes me panic.

"It's ok, this is only a dream, Leo is still with you, that's where he's meant to be" she says with a smile that makes me go red. "I take it from the colour of your cheeks you already know Leo is your mate?" It feels like my face is on fire, how am I meant to talk to my mother about this.? Actually!

"What does that even mean?" She raises her eyebrow as if to say "do I have to spell it out" oh god how embarrassing "I mean.... Is it like soul mates? Fate? Or something like that.?" She squeezes my hands and gives me a reassuring smile.

"In a way yes, you two were made for each other, we are not like humans Lucy, we can't just mate with anyone." Ok rewind.

"What do you mean we're not like humans? if we're not human what the hell are we?" Oh god I'm a monster.

"This is what I've come here to tell you" she takes a deep breath "I know this is going to be a lot for you to take in but I don't have much time" what, no! Don't leave me again, I look at her panicked. "It's ok" she says and quickly looks around the room, what's she looking for? "I need to tell you a story, and I need you to listen, ok?" I nod my head, I just want to know what he hell is going on. "I was over 400 years old when I met my mate, your father" I look at her in shock, "But our love was forbidden, you see your father was a fallen.... That's an angel that has been..... How do I say this? Errm, kicked out if you will. But he was my mate, no matter what he was I had that need to be with him, like the need you're feeling now for Leo." It's feels like I'm having an out of body experience, this is so fucked up. "When it was discovered I was pregnant with you, I was cast out sent down to live my life on earth."

"Holy shit you're an angel?" I quickly cover my mouth with my hand, I can't believe I just said, it was out before I could stop it. She leans her head to the side and raises her eyebrow.

"Well I've heard you say worse" she says then starts laughing "But yes I am an angel, and so are you, well half, you're also half fallen" oh god, I'm so confused.

"Ok so you're telling me I'm not human, I'm half angel, half fallen, how the hell did I not know this? shouldn't I have, oh I don't know super powers or something?"

"You do, you just haven't been able to use them, till now, now you have found Leo your gifts will start coming back." Ok I don't know if I can do this, it's all a bit to crazy for me, I'm just a normal girl, with a normal life, normal job, I stand up and start to pace the room.

"What gifts? And why now?" I turn to look at my mother as she stands and walks over to me.

"You are one of a kind Lucy, there has never been anyone like you, a fallen has never mated before, I don't know why but your father is the first and only fallen to ever find their mate. We didn't know what gifts you would have, and with being stuck on earth I-I had no choice but to have your gifts bound until you where older, to protect you, and others." I take a step back.

"Am I dangerous?"

"NO! Of course not, but you are very powerful, well you will be......." she stops talking and looks around the room in a bit of a panic "I have to go, you need to wake up now!"

"What? No there's so much I don't understand." She puts her arms around me and whispers in my ear.

"Find the prophecy of the one unseen by darkness" then she moves away "Leo will help you, now wake up!" She starts to panic a bit more, then screams "LUCY NOW! WAKE UP NOW!"
