The current Flame Pillar of the Taisho Era cried. "No! Not Y/n! Not yet! Why her and not me!?" he yelled to the gods as he held your limp, bloody corpse in his arms.

"Oh Kyo!!" you called, running around the estate you and your significant other shared. "Kyo! Come out!" you yelled, beaming as usual.
"Over here, Y/n." you heard him respond. You ran to the voice and found him outside in the training ground with Senjuro swinging his sword in the background.
"Kyojuro!" you squealed and jumped onto him, wrapping your arms around him in a hug. "I missed you."
"As did I, Y/n," he replied with his signature smile. It was then you noticed the crow that had perched itself not too far from where he was. You tiled your head in question.
"You have another mission?"
"Why, yes! I in fact do!!" he announced with his tone a mix of zeal and disappointment. Zeal because he actually loved his job as a Demon Slayer and disappointment because that would mean he would have to leave you once more.
"The Mugen Train has been having a series of strange disappearances. I have been assigned to go and analyse the situation as it may be the cause of a demon."
"Aww," you pouted. "That means you'll have to leave again." Then you had a lightbulb. "I know!! I can come with you! We can go on the mission together!!"
"Absolutely not." His smiled didn't falter and his tone didn't change but you knew his mind was set.
"But... Kyo, why not?"
You were a Demon Slayer of the Kinoe Rank, second highest only to the Hashira. You were strong and could handle jobs on your own without so much as breaking a sweat. You'd gone on mission with Kyojuro before so you didn't understand why he was so hesitant to let you go.
"Because they've suspected that one of the Twelve Kizuki are on the train," he explained. "It's too dangerous, My Flame." He ended with a soft smile.
He knew how much you hated being underestimated so he knew you wouldn't take his statement well. But he also knew you didn't like things sugar coated so he gave it to you straight. You grimaced at his words.
