Today was the day! You'd finally convinced yourself that today was the day you'd tell a certain maroon-haired boy how you truly felt about him. And it wasn't just a silly butterflies in your stomach kind of crush. More like a heart melting every time you see him and chest hurting with longing every time he wasn't by your side kind of crush.
You'd had one on him for several months on end. And it seemed every single person in the Corps knew about it except the sun breather himself!! And after weeks of non-stop persuasion from your friends, you finally told yourself it was about damn time you told him how you really felt. Maybe.... he even felt the same!
Maybe he loved you too. Maybe he was also just as shy to tell you as you were to him. Maybe when you finally confessed, you and him would start dating! Maybe you could even go on missions together! Maybe in the future you'd get married! And maybe you'd teach your children how to be amazing demon slayers as well!! Maybe......!
No! Focus on the task at hand! You scolded yourself and finally started to walk. You were in luck. Just as you went outside, into the training ground of the Butterfly Mansion, you found the maroonette walking along the same path as well. "T-Tanjiro!!" you called, chirpy but hating yourself for stuttering. He heard you and turned around.
"Yes?" he smiled as he met your gaze. "Oh, it's you Y/n. Did you need something?" he asked, warmly.
"Uh, actually... Y-yes. I did." you replied, suddenly feeling very shy. You looked down, playing with the hem of your skirt as your face grew red and you tried to find words. "Uh... I-I.. Well I just..." Get yourself together! You finally snapped out of your shy spell and looked him dead in the eye. "Well, the thing is! I just wanted to tell you that I... I really..."
"Sorry, Y/n! I completely forgot!" Tanjiro exclaimed, cutting you off. "I have rehabilitation training today with Kanao! I have to get to her right now!"
"O-Oh.." you mumbled. Maybe you could just tell him quickly then he could go about his day. But if he really did feel the same then he'd take his time reciprocating the feelings. And that would make him late! You didn't want him to be late! So against your better judgement, you smiled. "That's fine then. You go. I'll just tell you later!"
"Thank you so much!" he bowed. "I'm very very sorry I had to cut you off." He bowed several times before running off. "I'll talk to you later, okay!?"
"R-right!" you waved as he disappeared from view. "Later! I'll tell you later!" You then whispered to yourself, as if convincing yourself. "I'll tell him later."
