"Giyuu~!" you cooed, walking around the shared estate of your boyfriend of two years..
"Giyuu! Where are you!?" You knew he wouldn't answer. But you called for him anyway. Eventually, you found him outside in the training ground.

"Giyuu!" you chirped and jumped on him from behind, wrapping him in a hug. "I missed you!"

"Y/n." That was the one word he said in greeting, but you could've sworn you saw the tiniest of smiles make its way to his lips.

"What're you doing? Are you training? I already trained today. Alos! I didn't tell you about what happened when you went for your mission. It was crazy! I was...." You chattered away to him as you both walked back to your shared bedroom. All the while he just listened.

That was the way your relationship worked. You did all the talking. You'd talk on his behalf on matters where you knew how he'd answer, you'd talk about your day and try and make him laugh every time he was down. And you'd talk about anything and everything that bothered you or that had been on your mind. And he would listen. He was the only person who would listen to your rambling non-stop.

You were the Taisho Era's biggest chatterbox, and he was a man of way less than a few words. Yes, you were polar opposites, but you believed that's why you worked so well together. You were there to balance each other out. Others though, didn't think the same.

You'd overheard on several occasions, people talking about how weird it was for you and the Water Pillar to be together. That he deserved someone way better and that you should learn to shut your mouth once in a while. But you'd always ignore it all because you knew deep down that all they were were words. And words shouldn't hurt you, they were your greatest weapon, after all.

But after hearing said words for more than two years, you started to wonder yourself. Why exactly did  Giyuu love you? You'd heard him say the words a moderate number of times, but you never really thought too much about them. Did he say them for formality, because you were together, or did he really mean them?

You thought you got your answer once when you were walking through the Butterfly Mansion, looking for Shinobu to deliver details on the mission you were to take together in the next few days. You overheard a few Kakushi talking away.
