Max was dancing around El's room, singing along with "Angel" that played on the radio. El was reading magazines on her bed while Adeline sung along with Max, sitting next to El.
Adeline saw El stop on a page in one of the magazines and looked to see what it was.
"Ralph Macchio," Adeline said with a smirk. El looked up to her and Max came to sit in front of the girls.
"Macchio?" El questioned with a smile.
"Yeah, he's the Karate Kid," Max tells her. She lifts one arm and chops it down. "Hi-yah!" All three girls laugh together. "He's so hot, right?"
"Meh," Adeline comments. Max looks up to her girlfriend. "Phoebe Cates is way hotter."
Max smiles and rolls her eyes. "You only like her because-"
Adeline smacks Max's arm before she finishes, causing both of them to laugh. El only looks at Adeline confused.
"Don't worry about it," Adeline tells her when she looks over to El. "I bet Phoebe's an amazing kisser," Adeline adds, falling back onto the bed. El's confused face only gets more confused.
Max laughs and climbs over next to Adeline. "Is Mike a good kisser?" Max asks El.
"I don't know," El tells her with a small smile. "He's my first boyfriend."
"Ex-boyfriend," Max corrects. Adeline lightly smacks Max's arm and sits up on her elbows. "What?"
"Let's not," Adeline tells her, noticing the sad look on El's face. Max notices it too.
"Hey, don't worry about it," Max tells her immediately. "Okay? He'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness."
"I guarantee you him and the boys are playing Atari right now," Adeline adds on. "And Mike is totally wallowing in self-pitty. He's like, 'Oh, I hope she takes me back!'" Adeline mocks the last part to mimic Mike. All three girls laugh together.
"God, what I wouldn't give to see his stupid face right now," Max comments. It's quiet for a few seconds, El growing a small smirk on her face. Max and Adeline notice immediately. "What is it?"
El abruptly gets up and goes to her radio, changing the station to static. Max and Adeline look between each other before getting up. El goes to her drawer and gets out a black blindfold.
"It needs to be silent for this to work," El informs them. Adeline knew all of the rules, but obviously Max didn't. "I need to be able to focus."
"Got it," Max says, lightly jumping in place out of excitement. It isn't everyday when you hang out with your best friend and spy on her ex with her mind.
El sits on the floor, Max sitting down on the bed and Adeline sitting on the floor facing El.
"Is this really gonna work?" Max asks. El silently nods her head. "Holy shit, this is insane!"
"Max," El cuts off Max.
"Yeah, quiet, sorry," Max quickly apologizes. There were a few seconds of silence, Max and Adeline looking between each other with small smiles.
"I see them," El says. Both girls turn to look at her. Max gets off of the bed and goes to sit next to Adeline.
"What are they doing?" Max questions.
"Eating," El responds simply.
"No surprise there," Adeline mutters to Max. Max chuckles softly and turns to face her girlfriend before looking back to El. There were a few more seconds of silence.
"Theu say we are a 'species.'" El tells them.
"What?" Adeline questions angrily.
"'Emotion, not logic.'" El says again, quoting Lucas.
