Adeline sat in her room, frantically digging through her room to find as many quarters as possible.

Her, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will all planned to meet up at the Arcade later tonight. They were told to bring as many quarters as they could find.

So far, Adeline had found twenty quarters, which is pretty good but she knew she had more.

She had always been good at saving money, so she knew she had enough quarters for all 5 of them.

Of course, she wasn't going to tell them that. She doesn't want the boys to waste all of her money on stupid games that they knew they were going to lose.

As she was searching, she heard her walkie-talkie go off.

"Lucas," Dustin's voice came from the walkie. "Lucas, you copy? I got four quarters, what's your haul?"

Adeline picked up her walkie to listen.

"Take your puny haul, and multiply it by five," Lucas confidently answered back.

Adeline laughed, holding her 26 quarters in her left hand, her walkie in her right hand.

"How?" Dustin asked, dumbfounded.

"While you were scraping around like a homeless bum, I mowed Old Man Humphrey's lawn," Lucas answered the boy.

"Old Man Humphrey?" Dusin asked the dark skinned boy on the other end.

"Yes Dustin," Adeline finally cut in. "Are you going deaf or something?" She laughed and shook her head, putting her shoes on to get ready to leave.

"Adeline what the hell?" Dustin asked the girl, clearly annoyed.

"Thank you, Addy," Lucas thanked the girl.

"Old Man Humphrey's got that kind of cash?" Dustin asked, ignoring Lucas's side comment to Adeline.

"Yes now call Mike," Lucas said to Dustin. Adeline went back to just listening to the conversation as she tied her red Vans on her feet.

"You call Mike," Dustin retorted.

"I have to go take a shower from doing real work, like a man," Lucas answered. "Over and out."

"Addy you call Mike," Dustin said to the girl.

"Nope, I'm not apart of this anymore. Sorry, Dustin."

"What the hell!" Dustin yelled.

"Anyways, I'm leaving now. See you there. Over and out," Adeline said to the boy before shutting off her walkie. She threw her coins in a small plastic bag, throwing them in her backpack along with her walkie.

She ran downstairs to see her parents sitting in the living room watching tv.

"Where are you going?" Her mother asked, looking over the couch to the front door where Adeline was.

"Arcade. The boys and I planned on meeting there, remember?" Adeline had her hand on the door knob, waiting for her mother to respond.

"Alright, be back before 8:30 if you're riding your bike back. 9:00 if Joyce is giving you a ride." Her mom refocused on the tv in front of her.

"Alright, thanks Mom! Love you guys! Bye!" Adeline swung the door open as she ran out to the side of the house to grab her bike.

She hopped on her bike and sped down the road towards the arcade.

She loved the feeling of the cool night air flying through her hair and she rode her bike. The light air brushing across her face as she stared straight ahead. It was her happy place. She felt free, invincible as if nothing could ever stop her.
