The day after going to the bar, which, Min Min reluctantly did what she were to do. (Ninjara had let Ribbon Girl choose the song, but she overheard him whispering to her to choose something weird, which made her hate him even more,) the ARMS fighters were having pizza for dinner.
"Where's Spring Man gone?" Ribbon Girl piped up, "does he know what we're having?"
"He definitely does," said Min Min indifferently, "probably got some... stuff to do or so."
Right at that moment, Spring Man stumbled in the kitchen with a document in hand, still looking at it as he entered. His expression was melancholy and worried, as if he had some bad news.
He had.
"Hey... guys," he nervously said, "there's something I think I was kinda supposed to let you see... earlier."
"What is it?" Springtron, closest to the door, took it from him.
The room fell silent as he read it. It was for about a minute, with the only noise being chairs shifting around impatiently before the robot blurted out, "what in the name of hell is this? I thought you were- why-who would-"
"What is it?" Ribbon Girl asked, leaning forward.
"Dr Coyle? Isn't she the one we saw Spring fight on Tuesday?" Misango, who was seated next to Springtron, peered at it, "since when is she... head of ARMS League?"
Min Min glanced up before quickly looking down at her pizza, the feeling of suspiciousness erupting in her mind. She had never liked her, especially her conversation with her yesterday. She flicked her eyes up and glared at Ninjara, opposite her at the table, which he ignored.
"Why did you sign consent?" Ribbon Girl looked at Spring Man, frowning.
He looked ashamed. "I-I was told to. Not really the best way to deliver news like that, I'm sorry."
Ninjara's expression creased in confusion, "if we really were having a new head of league, why were you the only one told? Were we supposed to be told anytime later, as a group?"
The bouncer's face fell even darker, "I really don't know."
"Was that why Rhielle asked to talk to you the other day?" Min Min finally said.
"Y-yeah."
"Who is this Dr Coyle?" asked Lola when the paper was passed to her (she too wasn't there at Spring Man's finale battle).
"A mad scientist," replied Min Min.
"A mad scientist now in charge of us? Damn, I ain't liking that," said Twintelle, flipping the page, yet still remaining classy with her voice.
"You ain't liking what?" rang a voice from the lounge.
The room fell silent once again. Whoever said that wasn't necessarily louder than anybody else, but it did get everybody's attention.
Twintelle lowered her head, eyes narrowing, as if expecting an argument. Lucky for her she was seated at the near end of the table though, far from the kitchen doorway.
Nobody made a noise even when Dr Coyle had completely showed herself. They all stared, unsure what she was gonna do or say.
Twintelle, who was now holding the paper, discreetly put it under her legs to hide it.
"Greetings, fellow fighters," she said, "it's nice to work with you all."
Except she wasn't "working" with them. She was arrogating their league without prior notice, but it wasn't like anyone would say that out loud in front of a "mad scientist".
"Same," Spring Man replied weakly, forcing out a smile.
Coyle's smirk grew and scanned the blank expressions of the rest of them for a while before turning and vanishing into thin air.
It was still quiet for a while before Min Min decided to speak, "what changes does that bring?"
Twintelle, eyebrow raised, passed it to her and pointed to the "terms and conditions" column.
"What the sh-" she muttered as soon as seeing it. "This is ridiculous!"
Spring Man took a seat next to her and looked at it sighing.
"I know right! Isn't six hours of training a day and two hours of working out excessive?" said Springtron, shaking his head.
Mechanica, who hadn't read it yet, widened her eyes.
Min Min continued flipping through the pages and gisting through them in disbelief.
Springtron turned to her, "we're also not allowed any form of entertainment or any days off no matter what time of the year it is."
Mechanica's face twisted in a flustered state.
"Also, we have to organize 1v1v1v1 versus fights every day at least thirty rounds per fighter. Anybody caught not following any of the abovementioned terms will face an... unseen... consequence..."Min Min read out, lowering her tone in annoyance.
"Waste of time! For what? We have work to do!" Mechanica exclaimed.
"Exactly!" Ninjara replied.
"I don't like where this is headed," Spring Man muttered, but everybody could hear him.
"Me neither," said Ribbon Girl.
"Why did you sign it?" Kid Cobra asked again, slightly displeased.
"R-Rhielle told me that uhm, if I didn't sign it Dr Coyle wou-"
No. This was not up for discussion.
"Rhielle?" Kid Cobra tilted his head.
"Forget I said anything."
"When do these ridiculous rules start?" Twintelle asked, sticking her head out at Min Min.
Min Min paused and carefully said, "Tomorrow."
