Springtron was about to lower his charging panel when a knock was heard on his quarter room. He sighed, thinking it was Coyle, which he really wanted to ignore, but still decided to ask.
"It-it's Min Min," came the voice.
The door slid open and closed after she entered.
"It's you," he said solemnly, "how'd you get into this part of the Labs?"
"Around two weeks later you would've disclosed to us the codes," she replied, "I have it memorized by heart crystal clear. And speaking of crystal, there's one not far away from here. Only like, a couple turns from this hallway."
"What crystal?"
She walked over to Springtron and lifted his Toaster. Then, running her fingers along its surface, she pointed to the tiny concealed black device.
"This," she said, looking up at him who was still staring at it, "I don't even know how Coyle does it. According to our later theories, when our ARMS are in use, the power and energy from it will be directly sent to be stored in the crystal, which is what we call a big piece of glass in a hidden chamber. It is through this gizmo the power is transferred."
Springtron fell silent for a few seconds...
"Is... Is that why she wanted us to work so hard all the time?" The feeling of realization finally hit him.
"Exactly," she said, "but it requires some special device to implant and remove it, and I don't know what it is, so I was hoping you might, although in hindsight I think if the gizmo are unremovable without it, I don't see any reason Coyle wouldn't have disposed of it by now."
Springtron nodded, not saying a word.
She crossed her arms, "I mean, I could bring you to the crystal like right now, but I don't need to be caught again."
"Again? You were caught before?"
"We obviously aren't allowed in that chamber. The crystal is held by a device that kind of monitors the power of something. The you I know powered my time traveling watch with it, too, but the last thing I knew before leaving was footsteps approaching, much surely Coyle's."
"How powerful is it?" Springtron asked.
"Powerful enough to dominate our entire state. Gave her chances to improve technology by a huge step and needless to say, it wasn't good for us. We were all under her control, everyone else having to do what she wanted," she said while motioning out the window, "worse than it sounds you know. You have to see it to believe it, you know."
Min Min paused and tilted her head to the side before saying one last thing, "and also, Spring Man's gonna be out of the ARMS League in around a month's time."
She expected Springtron to ask her why, but he instead asked, "take me to the crystal."
"Excuse me?"
"I don't think it's worth messing about these things in our ARMS, but instead the sooner I can find out about how the crystal works the sooner we can stop whatever crisis you and our future selves are facing..." his voice trailed off.
She creased her eyebrows before turning to the direction of the door before looking back at him, "no, I don't think it's a good idea. I REALLY do not need to be seen."
Springtron gave a thoughtful nod before carefully asking her, "okay, yeah. So... apart from that, does anything else happen in the future, like, to us maybe?" His gaze landed on her wrist.
"As I was saying," she sighed, sitting down by a table leg, "Coyle removed Spring Man from ARMS a month later."
"Any reason for that?" he asked quietly.
