It was already sunset when Lauren made it to Vertigo Town, and she came via the underground subway, in a bullet train linked between cities. Apparently, she wanted to avoid the crooked law, and the mutants and robots, in the desert. She came to Shelley's Bar, as she said she would. Turned out, so did the sheriff.

"Good to see everyone!" said Lauren. "I do owe you thanks for handling Boris earlier today."

"Always a pleasure." I remarked. "So, what can you tell us about Kilmann?"

"It's not easy to say, he's been making deals with the mutant leader, no one knows who that is." Lauren explained.

"The mutant leader?" asked Aurora.

"Now I'm curious, who's this character?" I asked.

"He's been providing the mutant leader, with shipments of desert crystals. In exchange of weapons to keep everyone under control, in return, the mutants attack cities and settlements." Lauren went on to elaborate.

"So now, what are we going to achieve, by going to the mines?" I asked.

"It's where he normally goes to meet the mutant leader. Either there, or the Gunsmith Battalion HQ, their main headquarters, which is as big as a palace!" said Lauren. "Security is very tight, even more than the federal reserve. Or Fort Knox."

"Anything else we need to know?" asked Ranger, finally speaking up.

"Both areas are heavily guarded and monitored by surveillance drones, always on patrol, twenty-four-seven, and solar powered." Lauren answered. "Those drones are invincible and indestructible to any conventional weapons, with strong levels of encryptions in their software. That's not to say they can't be hacked and circumvented."

"So given it is a coal mine, or what's left of it, I can already bet setting that place on fire, won't be wise." I chuckled.

"I wouldn't even think of it as a joke, nonetheless you want to be beaten like a pulp." Shelley, who was listening to us said.

"She's right!" said Lauren. "The authorities will be on your ass, until kingdom come."

"First of all, you'll need to take down their defenses, which are remote." Shelley explained. "Once that's done, you'll need to face the mutant leader as well. You take him out, it could weaken the mutant army."

"Understood!" said everyone in my team, including myself.
