Chapter 47 – Invading the Fortress
Gunsmith Battalion Fortress

We left Nelson's office and headed straight to the fortress. It didn't take us too long, we arrived within forty minutes. Yeah, the damn building was no doubt fortified, and surrounded by guards and drones. We got our equipment ready. Aurora took out a tablet and used it to hack and began scanning the area, to retrieve its blueprints.
"Yeah, we've made it." I declared. "In the dark of the night, needless to say, but I'll just go ahead and say it anyways, we're going in with shitty intel."
"Doesn't look much of a building, we should just grab the supplies, as much as we can get, and hightail it back to Jordan City." Ranger added.
"Honestly, if we fuck up anyway, it's our asses twisting in the wind, not Nelson's nor Wheeler's!" exclaimed Aurora.
"How's that different from any other day, Julia?" asked Ranger.
"It's one thing to send us in with bad intel, that shit happens, I get it!" said Aurora. "But this is just sticking our hand into the gator's mouth and trusting it not to bite!"
"We'll not stay here all night, Julia, hack the motion sensors, laser defenses and drones now!" I told her. "James, we both will go in, and get the goods. I.V.A.N.A, you also try to manipulate the software of the security and computer systems. With some luck, we should be done soon."
"Very well, sir!" said I.V.A.N.A. "Remember to switch to camo and keep the silencers on."
"Hoo-ah!" I called out.
"Hoo-ah!" said both Ranger and Aurora.
We then turned to proceed towards the fortress, activated the optical camouflage feature, to render us virtually invisible. Then we walked towards the fortress with guns loaded and the silencers in place.
"James, keep your head on a swivel. Same for you, Julia!" I ordered my team. "We only shoot if we're attacked."
"Roger that!" said Aurora over the radio.
"Wilco!" responded Ranger.
"Also stay crouched!" said I.V.A.N.A. "The camouflage only works when you're prone or crouched. Not while running. I'll let you know when it's safe to walk."
We just continued on our way, hoping for the best, planning for the worst.
