Chapter 69 – the Mutants' Lair

Ace: We acquired the coordinates to reach the mutants' hideout out in the wasteland and wasted no time getting to it. We saw how the mutants continued to attack the two cities on our way there. It looked dark, the sky was very dark and filled with large dark clouds, constantly cracking lightning and thunder, and rain falling every few minutes. We then saw all the creatures, animals, and humans alike, who succumbed to the mutagen. The mutants immediately saw us and began attacking us. We took out our pressurized weapons, and started shooting at whatever, whichever and whenever a mutant came near us.

"We must make it to the turret!" said Ranger. "Keep shooting!"

"Roger that! I hope you've got enough firepower, until we reach the hideout!" I shouted.

"Affirmative! Just keep going! We can't stop here!" ordered Ranger.

"I'm with you!" said a voice, as we spun around!

"Ross!" I couldn't believe it, he had joined us with his unit.

"Ace, make it to the gun up ahead, it'll shoot to reveal the core of the lair!" said Wheeler, over the comms. "We'll hold down the fort here!"

"Solid copy!" I exclaimed. "Ace out!"

We finally made it to the large turret, a huge gun, fueled with enough plasma energy, to destroy walls and mountains. We then powered the turret up and got it ready to fire. All systems were good to go.

"This is all we need, turret, power, wall." I said in delight.

"Let's light this candle!" said Ranger, as the weapon aimed at the barrier surrounding the mutant hideout.

"Ha, ha, ha! Eat this!" I exclaimed, as the powered-up weapon blasted away.

BOOM! The weapon unleashed a large plasma blast, which blew the wall down and caused the barrier to disappear. We then saw flames bursting into the sky, resulting from the impact of the weapon fired. We saw it created a large hole and out flew many mutant bodies, dead or on fire.

"Let's go take care of business!" I spoke in excitement. "For Aurora and the people!"

"Yes!" said Ranger. "For Aurora and the people!

We pressed on towards the lair, and surely enough, there were only a few mutants left, along with some armed robots. Me and Ranger fired our weapons and knocked out the remainder of the mutants and robots.
