Mumei found amusement from the plan that was going on into fruition. Even more amusing than the attempt that Haru had made to make him and Chloe phase through objects at the same time.

Funny enough to her, Chloe's shoulder had been burned just slightly when Haru's hand touched it.

His idea was laughable.

Phasing in and out of the building?

Yeah, like that was going to going work easily. But it didn't matter anyway. Even if he was able to phase through objects now, Haru didn't want to go. Perhaps this was some sort of test for the new members to prove their worth?

Seems likely.

Was it also that he didn't want to risk having Mumei die as an excuse because he cares about her?

She let out a hollow laugh.

The only thing he cared about was to not feel guilty over another person's death.

There was no forgiveness for someone like her. That was the reality that she had accepted.

"Mission preparations complete. Mission begins within three minutes. Nanashi-san, are you prepared?" Mumei had dug into her pouch, bringing out some scrap and shards of metal before transforming the material into a grappling hook.

"Of course~! You'll be up there in a few seconds when we start. Besides, why are you asking me? Getting butterflies, Chloe-san~?" Putting on her mask while wearing a skin-tight black bodysuit, she stood up to lean on the wall behind her with her arms crossed.

This was an entirely different person doing the mission right now. Those annoying self-deprications that she kept spouting to herself did get under Mumei's nerves a bit, but for the sake of not trying to be hostile, she just wore a smile and waved for the camera that were their eyes.

"No. I have done multiple operations that involved infiltrating buildings with this method, so with those experiences, I'll be able to react to anything thrown at me." Mumei held back the urge to snort.

She sounded monotonous just like that bar-coded bald guy she saw in the movies before.

"Nanashi-san, Chloe-chan, just like we discussed. Anything odd on both of your sides?" Mumei had wondered why the woman had suddenly become formal with her. Didn't she say her name before as if they already knew each other? Well, it wasn't like she cared fully. People called her by her first name constantly.

A voice from her earpiece made her stop from responding to Chloe's weird response in her eyes.

"Nothing out of the ordinary, Lui-san. We're ready to begin. None of the men has strayed from their scheduled walking patterns, right?" A human came from the other side of the earpiece.

"Not a single one. If they do, a simple dart with Koyori-chan's experimental substances should do the trick." The mention of Koyori's experiments made Chloe sigh.

"And what if they are lethal? Koyori-chan's experiments have an 80% chance of being what we need in certain situations. And the other remaining percent are the times when we clean up the mess." A slight chuckle came from Lui, probably reminiscing the times where times were less than fortunate in their favors.

"Well, for our sake, let's hope they don't stray off to the slightest sound. Well then, I suppose everything is all in order for us to begin. Let's begin."

"Nanashi-san." Mumei stretched a bit before responding.

"Yup, I heard everything loud and clear. After you, miss." With Chloe leading a bit out of the alleyway, they waited for a guard who was about to turn the corner into the side of the building.
