Chapter 3

"Attention! You'll be getting your personal firearm now. So, pay attention!"

Min Ha could count how many times she had yawned. Her eyes felt heavy and all she wanted to do right now is sleep. She looked around her, the students from other classes and the soldiers were all over the school field. She noticed that the line was still long and slowly leaned her head to the back of the person in front of her. Who is in front of her you ask? Min Ha didn't give a single fuck who that was but she just need someone to be her pillow.

Min Ha could feel the body of the person in front of her become stiff but before she could lift her head, she already could feel herself slowly dozing off, which ended up with her sleeping with her head leaning on someone's back. She even snores a little which made the person who had become her pillow giggle at her habit of sleeping anywhere as long as she could sleep. "Shout out your firearm number when you get yours. Understood?" Lieutenant Lee's voice could be heard everywhere but somehow it still couldn't wake Min Ha up. Lieutenant Lee had started to give some of the students their firearms.

"Min Ha. Cho Min Ha." Min Ha awoke when that sweetest voice called her name. She looked up at the person in front of her and her face turned completely bright red. Jo Jang Soo?! "I'm so sorry, Jang Soo. I-I was just a little bit tired with all of this." Min Ha could hear a quiet giggle coming out from Jang Soo's mouth. Min Ha could feel her heart pounding out of her chest. Why did all of the things Jang Soo did always give her such an adrenaline rush? "It's okay. Come on, it's almost our turn." Jang Soo smiled brightly at her before turning his head back to the front. Really, Cho Min Ha? There were so many boys in your class but still, you stood behind him and even leaned your head on his back? Good job, Min Ha! You just digging your own grave, girl!

If only Min Ha could just cut her ears so that she couldn't listen to any of the girl's complaints anymore, especially that trio, Joon Hee, So Yoon, and Soon Yi. All they did all day were kept on complaining about this and that just like an old group of grandmas. "Excuse me, Ahjussi! Ahjussi! Could you give me a clean gun instead? I think someone used it before." There we go again. Another complaint from Cha So Yeon. Min Ha's favorite soldier, Kim Woo Bin (who was surely not 21 years old) rejected So Yeon's request and yelled at them to get into their position, which obviously was ignored by the students. This time, the woman soldier came and shouted the same instructions at them, which again, got ignored by the others. Even the bully group was still playing around with their gun, chasing Wang Tae Man around the field.

Min Ha who knew about the upcoming disaster quickly got into the position (which was a little closer to the goalpost). She looked at her classmates, who were still sitting, and didn't even look bothered by the whole situation, and shouted at them "You guys better come here or else you will regret it." Everyone hesitated at first but followed what she said after they saw Yoo Jung and Jang Soo walking toward where Min Ha stood at. Lieutenant Lee saw how everyone was in a position and noticed that only the bully group was playing around. "What are you doing right now?! Get to your position!" He walked toward Il Ha and the gang, with a stoic face that looks scarier than 'The Undertaker' (for your information, 'The Undertaker' is a pro wrestler who has a very scary face).

"The personal firearm you have could either save your lives or take them during battle." Both Lieutenant Lee and Il Ha stared daggers at each other before Lieutenant Lee snatched the firearm away from Il Ha's hand. "The only thing to trust in a time of crisis isn't your friend nor your comrade! It's the personal firearm that you have. Now, should you really treat such a personal firearm recklessly?" Silence. No one dared to answer him. "No, sir!" Min Ha yelled at the top of her lungs. She could feel her throat hurting from yelling so loud. The others followed after hearing her answer.

"You see the goalpost over there, right?" All of the students exchanged confused looks when they saw the goalpost that Lieutenant Lee was pointing at meanwhile Min Ha readied herself to run. She determined to be the first three as she didn't want to die from tiredness. At least it would be pretty cool if she died while fighting the alien, right?

"Run." That's all Min Ha needed to hear from the platoon leader before she made a run for that goalpost. Some of the students still hesitated while some just watched Min Ha, dumbfounded by her action. After a few seconds, Young Shin finally ran, following what Min Ha just did. Everyone then started to run. Min Ha was panting heavily when she arrived in front of Lieutenant Lee. If she know this would happen, she would follow Ye Rim to jog at the park. Now, here she was. Panting like a grandma who needed an oxygen mask. Just great.

After what felt like endless hours of running and cursing the fucking universe, finally, the training had finished. Min Ha could feel her whole body ache. She even could smell her own body odor from all that excessive sweat. She walked with the other girls to their barracks and quickly kept her gun in the locker before she laid down on her bed. Without wasting any more time, she finally got to take her sweet nap before she needed to wake up and be a hero, saving Young Hoon's life.

"Mom and Dad, if I'm dead, it's all on you. [Silence]. (Sigh) Just kidding. I'm all fine here. Nah, that's a lie. I almost die from exhaustion but it's still manageable. Don't worry about me and please take care of yourself. If you see any purple weird, slimy, and alien-like things, make sure to run as fast as you can, okay? Avoid it at all costs, okay? Well, I think that's all, Chi Yeol. I'm going to take a nap now. Bye."

Dear me,
I see that you are still alive and well, huh? Guess what? That's not the end! There's still plenty of training and saving lives that you need to do. Good luck, Cho Min Ha! Remember, you are doing this not because you want to but because it's something that only you can prevent. Don't give up yet, Cho Min Ha! I'm rooting for you!
