Chapter 17:
Planning and Composing
Sean sat in chains before the alpha and beta, two other werewolves behind them by the doors of the room they were speaking to him in. He stared at them in fear as Jonathan glowered at him and the alpha sat composed in the seat before him, only a metal table, with a tape recorder gently resting upon it as it recorded the coming discussion, separating the young hunter from the wolves.
“The other hunters have been very reluctant to share their information with us,” Charles began. “I was informed by the ones who captured you and your other associates that you were willing to share what you know?”
Sean nodded eagerly and quickly. “Look I never wanted to get involved in any of this. I was forced into this by my father.”
“And who is your father?” Charles asked.
“Hank Augustus,” Sean replied quickly. “He was the second in command of our clan before separating along with many others and formed his own clan.”
“Why did he separate from your old clan?” Jonathan asked sternly.
“There’s a large coven of vampires that have been attacking, killing, and enslaving other supernaturals throughout the south,” Sean began with his explanation. “They intend to take over the whole country but are increasing their numbers and enslaving powerful beings to help them with their plans. My clan knew that they wouldn’t be able to take these vampires on their own and decided to team up with multiple wolf packs in order to stop them from coming farther north.”
“And your father didn’t like the idea of fighting alongside our kind so he took off?” Charles asked.
Sean nodded. “Along with many others who felt the same way.”
“If there’s this huge vampire threat then why is he attacking us?” Jonathan asked.
“He thought this area would be a good base of operations and a place they could push back the vampires if they get any farther north,” Sean stated. “That and, no offence to any of you, he couldn’t pass up the chance to kill any werewolves when he heard about the size of this pack.”
“Do you know where their base of operations is?” Charles asked.
Sean nodded. “I could show you on a map or take you there myself.”
“Why are you betraying your father like this?” Jonathan asked, suspicion lacing his words as they left his lips.
“I’ve been against this ever since he sent out a group to attack the gym that night,” Sean admitted sadly. “Then when I saw my uncle beat that girl like that, I knew I couldn’t stand for this anymore. All I want is for all of this madness to stop.”
Charles nodded, believing the young man’s words when he saw the tears running down his face and remembering what Myles had told him the boy had said to his uncle inside the shack. “Well Sean if you agree to help us we’ll be more than happy to return you to your clan.” Sean nodded eagerly; more than ready to do what he had to in order to stop his father. “Now, what else can you tell me?”

“Wait ya want me ta go ta a pack council meetin’?” A.J asked as she walked on shaky legs from one end of Darren’s room to the other. It was the second day after she’d rescued Heather and her body was struggling to return to its former glory after all of the pain she’d been in the previous night. Darren watched her as she practiced her walking, resisting every urge he felt to go over to his mate and help her which she forbade the werewolf from doing after his first attempt.
