I Like You

Alyssa's pov

"The truth is I really like you..."

"What?" I asked quietly. Thoughts flooded through my head as I tried to comprehend what he just said.

"I really like you..." Bryce repeated. I looked at Jay walking up the steps in front of us. What am I suppose to do?

"Sorry, but I like Jay." I say to Bryce. His face quickly turns red. For a second I think I start to see his eyes water just a little bit but it goes away.

"Oh...but don't you still like me too?"

"I...ummmm maybe." I said in shock looking at him. I was hardly comprehending what was happening. He started staring at me so I looked away from him and looked up to Jay. That's who I wanted to talk to right now. "I'll talk to you about this later Bryce, ok?"

"Ok." He said looking down at the steps.

"Hey Jay!" I calls for him running up to talk to him. "What were you gonna say?"

"Forget it. It doesn't matter." He said turning away resisting looking at my face. Did I do something wrong?? What could I possibly have done wrong? He looked like he was in deep sorrow...he looked like he just watched his own puppy get run over by a car and was seeking the driver who ran it over.

"Please." I replied looking at him with puppy dog eyes. He glanced at me quick and looked down at the steps again.

"No." His face became serious as he stared into my eyes.

"Fine." I said stomping up and away as he stared at me in awe.

"Nicole!" I yell for my best friend as I run up the steps to her.

"What?" She asked.

"Jay was about to tell me something and then Bryce came up and most likely ruined whatever he was about to tell me. Jay left and then Bryce told me he liked me and then he got me all messed up and..."

"What?! Bryce likes you? Well I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. It's just crazy that he ACTUALLY had the nerve to tell you."

"I know! So anyway I went to Jay and I asked him what he was gonna tell me and he said to forget it and it didn't matter. I asked Please and he said no. He looked sad or mad about something...now I'm sad."

"Don't worry about Jay, ok? Let me just say I know a thing or two about Jay that you don't." She says winking at me.

Could she possibly mean that SHE KNOWS WHETHER HE HAS FEELINGS FOR ME?!😵😊

"Like what?" I say nearly jumping of excitement.

"You'll find out soon enough..." She looks at me smiling wide.

I NEED TO KNOW OF THIS INFORMATION!!!!!!!

"Please please please please pleaseeeeeeeeee tell me." I beg her as we finally reach the top of the steps.

"My lips are sealed."

"Ugh...fine. Have it your way."😑

Jay's pov

I sit alone by myself on the log in front of the boys cabin...now that Alyssa's probably mad at me, I have NOBODY to hang out with...except for maybe Nicole but I don't know her that well. Why didn't I just tell her when she asked me? How could I be so stupid? What if I ruined my chances with her? She probably likes Bryce anyways...he's better looking than me, cooler than me, and has known Alyssa WAY longer than I have. I was probably just a friend so...why bother telling her? What's the point? To get my heart broke? To cry? To be afraid to love again? All I wanted to do was be with Alyssa. I thought about her in the morning as soon as I wake up, at night before I go to sleep, and every moment in between. I HAVE to fix things between us...otherwise my life won't be the same...

I hear her laugh in the distance. I look up and see that she is talking to Nicole. That was the thing I loved most about her...her laugh. No matter how sad or mad I was that always made me feel better. She was always so joyful.

I continued to fight the urge to go up to her and hug her tight and tell her she was the most beautiful girl in the world until Nicole finally ran over to me. Alyssa dashed over in the opposite direction to the gaga ball pit.

"I need to tell you something!" She said her face glowing. Could it be?😊

"What?" I say my face beginning to glow also.

"Alyssa wanted me to tell you that she likes you!"

"Awwwwww, how sweet." I playfully replied putting my hand on my heart.

Nicole laughed and ran away. Wait a second...what if this is some kind of joke? That was kind of random for her to just tell me out of nowhere...

I walk over to Nicole who is talking to Alyssa. Alyssa is smiling and laughing like crazy and Nicole is laughing also.

I tap Nicole on the shoulder. "You were kidding right?"

She shakes her head no. I look at Alyssa and she is smiling nervously.

"She was kidding right?" I ask Alyssa. I didn't notice it before but I was definitely blushing.

"No." She said shaking her head giving me the chills.

"That makes me feel special." I began. "I feel honored." I say half jokingly half seriously. Nicole, Alyssa, and I were all smiling like maniacs. I couldn't BELIEVE this was actually happening.

I walked away. Happy thoughts were dancing around in my brain and I started feeling tingly. I didn't know it would feel so good. I felt unstoppable.
