"Everybody who is fishing or boating needs to grab a life jacket!" Heather yelled to all of us.

"I'll go grab the life jackets." Jay said to me with a smile.

"Ok." I replied. "I'll grab the oars."

We both run up the steps together. I grab the oars and he grabs the life jackets.

"Thanks." I say as we walk down the steps together.

"No problem." He says smiling at me again.

OH MY GOODNESS HE KEEPS SMILING AT ME I CAN'T TAKE IT!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Jay and I get on the boat and Heather pushes us out. I look at Jay and he seems to be struggling with the oars.

"Um, are you sure you know how to do this?" I asked him.

"Um, yeah I'm sure." He says. I could tell he was embarrassed.

"Ok. What did you do this summer?" I asked trying to make small talk.

"Not much. I just sat around and texted you basically." He said laughing. I laugh also. He picked up the oars and finally started doing it right.

"Don't you text other people though? What about you're best friend?"

"Yeah, I texted her." He says his face lighting up.

"Oh..." I said sadly. It was probably Ashley or some other girl that was prettier than me.

"What's wrong?" He asked me.

"Nothing...It's just...so who's you're best friend?"

"I'll give you a hint. I'm talking to her right now."

I smile really wide and he laughs.

"Has anyone told you that you have beautiful eyes?" He says looking straight into my eyes.

I look down trying not to get too excited. I didn't want to get all hyped up about him, only to be let down.

"Yeah. People have told me that." I said staring into his eyes. He stopped rowing and just stared at me.

"What?" He says looking at me, his face getting serious.

"What are you talking about?" I asked him.

"Quit staring at me. It's annoying." He replies as I die inside.

"I'm sorry. It's just I..." I didn't know what to say at that point.

"I'm just kidding." He said staring at me again. "I don't mind it when you stare at me." I laugh at him.

I look over and notice Bryce on a boat with a bunch of little kids. Poor guy. He looks at me and looks sad for a moment but then switches to a jealous face. He rolls his eyes and puts his attention back toward the kids again

I decide to ignore it and look back at Jay. His eyes still on me.

"Soooooo." Jay says trying to start a new conversation.

"Soooooo." I say back not knowing what else to say.

"Ummmm. So I was thinking...and I thought maybe sometime we could..."

"EVERYBODY COME BACK!! BOATING AND FISHING IS OVER!!" Heather yells at the top of her lungs across the lake.

Great! Perfect timing...he was about to ask me something😩. Oh well.

He grabs the oars and start rowing towards shore. Was he still gonna ask me!?

We get to shore and he gets out of the boat and walks off. I had never seen him act so weird before. It's like he just completely ignored me. It was as if I wasn't even there.

A couple minutes later Nicole walks over to Jay and starts talking to him. I see him blush and I wonder if they are talking about me. Then Nicole goes back over to her group of friends and starts talking to them.

Next thing I knew, we were running up the hill (stairs) for lunch.
