Sanemi was sleeping soundly inside his room when someone started knocking on his door. He groaned, opening his eyes and saw the sun was already up. The knocks on the door never stop so Sanemi had to stand up and walk to the front door.
He opened the door and squinted his eyes at the empty road.
"MISTER!!!"
He stumbled backwards when someone pounced on his legs. Sanemi looked below and saw Sayu hugging his legs. He had to double take to reaffirm that the little girl was crying.
"Hey, get off!" Sanemi yelled but Sayu didn't budge. She kept sobbing while hugging Sanemi's legs.
With a heavy sigh, Sanemi closed the door. He grabbed Sayu and held her in his arms. Then he brought her into his house. Sanemi sat on the floors, letting the girl cry on his chest while he himself was trying to collect his soul after waking up.
"Mister..." Sayu sobbed.
"I hate my sis!"
Sanemi was slapped into reality when he heard those words. He never thought he would hear something like that from this little girl who loves her big sister so much.
"Why?" Sanemi asked, his voice still groggy.
Sayu wiped her face. She looked up at Sanemi with red eyes.
"She hates me too!" She shouted. "Sis doesn't want to see me since two days ago! Even though I beg and knock on her room so many times, she said I cannot see her!"
Sayu hung her head low, holding in her small hiccups. Sanemi could only sigh and pat her head lightly.
"There's no way your sister hates you. She loves you more than anything in the world." Sanemi tried to comfort the girl.
"But then why won't she see me? She's been like this since she went on a mission with you. Did you do something to her?"
"Hell no! I didn't do shit!"
Sanemi sighed again.
"Did something happen between your sister and her lover?" He asked.
"What lover?" Sayu asked. "Are you talking about big brother Izuru?"
"He's not Shiori's lover, you know? They never really dated each other."
Sanemi gaped at the new fact.
"But she's planning to marry him, isn't she?" Sanemi asked.
"Yeah, but Shiori never says she likes him. Every time I asked her if she loves him or not, she always answer with, um, he's a good guy and such!"
Sayu looked down again.
"... She always forces a smile around him. The only time she really smiles is when she's with me... But... but she... She doesn't want to see me now!"
Sanemi sighed for the hundredth time that day and let Sayu cry on his chest again. He was sitting cross legged on the floors and Sayu was sitting on his lap. Her small hands were gripping his clothes.
"Stop crying already..."
"What should I do, mister?" Sayu sobbed. "I wanna see Shiori."
As if he got struck by lightning, Sanemi froze on the spot. Piecing things up together, he wondered what happened to Shiori after they parted ways that day. Her fiance was beyond furious when he found out that Shiori went on a mission with him.
Did he beat ber to death?
"... Is this big brother at home now?" Sanemi asked.
"No, he's out with his friends." Sayu shook her head.
