It was raining heavily, no sounds were heard except for the pitter patter of the rain against the roof. A rainy day like this is best spent at home, sleeping.
"Shiori, are you there?" A faint voice came from outside.
Someone knocked on her door but Shiori didn't bother to answer. She tucked her little sister under the covers before standing up and opening the window. She didn't care if it's storming outside, she didn't want to see her fiance. She jumped outside and closed the window from outside. Just in time when her fiance opened her door and found she was gone.
Shiori made her way through the rain. Only a few seconds have passed but she was already drenched under the rain. She didn't care. She dragged her feet along the road and they led her to an abandoned shrine.
Oh well, everywhere else is better than staying at that house.
Shiori sat down on the stairs, the roof of the shrine sheltering her from the rain. She looked at her bandaged right hand. It was wet from the rain and it's making her wrist throb in pain.
She sighed and buried her face on her knees. Some droplets of water found their way to her head, but she could care less about that. She just wanted to rest for a moment, she hasn't been sleeping for three nights.
No one knows how many minutes or hours have passed, but suddenly the rain stopped hitting Shiori.
Thinking that the rain finally stopped, Shiori raised her head.
Only to see the familiar face of a white haired young man.
"What are you doing here? You're going to catch a fucking cold." He asked while holding an umbrella for both of them.
Shiori couldn't believe her eyes. She had to rubbed her eyes and make sure she wasn't hallucinating. She noticed how pale his face was, as if he's sick.
"You're not dreaming." Sanemi clicked his tongue. He noticed how dark her eyebags were and how her cheek was bruised, it's making him concerned.
"Shinazugawa-san..." His name rolled out from her lips.
"What happened?" He asked.
"... The usual." She replied weakly. The moment she saw his face, she felt as if all burdens on her shoulders had been lifted off.
Shiori could see that Sanemi's fists were clenched tightly, veins are starting to form on his hand.
"Aren't you fed up with his attitude?" Sanemi asked.
"Very." Shiori whispered. She gripped her sleeves, pursing her lips tight. Her chest hurt, it hurt so much she wanted to cry. But she wouldn't want to cry in front of him again.
"The why are you still staying with him?"
That was the biggest question Shiori asked herself all the time. It would be easy for her to kill all members of Izuru's little gang and she would finally be free.
But then what is the difference between her and her father? Is making other people suffer for your own needs right?
"I can handle it." Shiori said.
"I can just find something I love about him."
Shiori noticed how Sanemi's scowl became even deeper. He threw his umbrella to her, making it lean on her shoulder. He turned around, not wanting to see her sad face anymore.
"Just throw it away or something if you don't want that guy to find out I gave it to you."
Sanemi left the shrine, walking under the rain. Shiori could only stare at his back as he slowly disappeared. She brought her palms to her face, sighing heavily. She felt sad because Sanemi left her just like that. She wanted to talk more with him, he's the only person who can give her comfort right now.
