Not a single plan of escape formulated as he walked. In fact, his situation only felt more dire. The land he walked upon fluctuated between dry and cracked to damp and wet. His shoes were well and truly destroyed. His body was slickened by the shimmer of sweat with scratch marks from the plants brushing up against him. Birds chirped around him. Wild, exotic balls of feathers that laughed at him from their high branches.
The worst part?
The Amazon didn't struggle in the slightest.
She wore gladiator sandals with her toes exposed, yet her feet were clean of the dirt that covered his. Her skin was more exposed than his- what with that short skirt and low breastplate- yet none of the scratches that marred his skin touched hers. Was she even sweating? Her skin was tan. Had she gotten used to the sun?
He wondered how many times she'd trekked this path before. Then he wondered how many of her 'companions' had puked at the end of it. After that he wondered how much longer they'd be walking for, and then the time.
It had been nighttime when Fallon killed his buzz. Here in the mortal realm, he couldn't even guess.
Fuck. He was completely reliant on the brutal woman walking behind him.
He didn't find himself in these situations often. With world renowned monarchs like Annaliese granting him their protection, no one ever dared to.
Could Fallon take Annaliese?
If anyone were likely to, it wouldn't surprise him.
He gathered what little scraps of information she'd given him.
"So you and Claudio are close?"
She huffed, pushing a hanging vine aside. "Here we go again."
Exasperation trickled from her to him, setting his spine straight.
Okay. Now wait a minute. Sure, he got this a lot. Seth wasn't the most... serious of individuals. And yeah, on his work feedback forms he'd drawn a difficult, unfriendly, annoying, inattentive, lazy and unhelpful at best. But he had feelings. Real feelings.
And sure, it was fun winding up nobodies or people that couldn't hurt him—but Fallon could crush him. Easily. Like a grape. And to be perfectly honest, until he decided whether he wanted her to crush him or not, he'd pin that exasperation down as insulting.
Not even giving me chance to prove I'm an idiot.
She'd simply assumed it from the get-go.
"I'm sorry," He grated. "Does my voice annoy you?"
"Like you wouldn't believe."
And most people didn't push back. With Fallon, it didn't feel like pushing, per se. Rather she was ramming him to the ground. Worse, it took minimal effort.
"I've made men and women cum from the sound of my voice alone. Count yourself lucky I'm letting you hear it."
"Oh, I'm sure."
Her tone irked him beyond imagination.
"So... you and Claudio?"
"What are you implying?"
"Nothing. Nothing. I know the big demon's pussy whipped with his angel girlfriend. But there was always a before..."
Had the demon King and the Amazon ever slimed the banana?
"No. There was not."
It would make sense. Claudio was big and scary looking whilst Fallon was small and scary looking.
