In one of many guest bedrooms in King Claudio's castle, Seth spent much of the night tossing and turning, the thought of a hellish Amazon never leaving him. After she'd sucked his cock to kingdom come, she'd left him with no idea of where they now stood. Knowing Fallon, their tiff wasn't over. She'd still be mad at him. Still be distanced. Worse, she'd be mad at herself.
Knowing she'd be mad didn't change anything. Now she knew he hadn't slept with Marina, she had nothing to hold against him. In other words, Seth was taking her everything.
Come the morning, armed with limited sleep, Seth headed downstairs.
Most immortals from the day before had left already. Claudio had granted Seth stay for as long as he needed, offering up 'the best of luck with the Amazon'. Other than himself, Caspian and Fallon seemed to be the only guests remaining.
He found the Amazon on the communal floor in the next room along, her head ducked to the table awfully close to the copper headed demon.
Jealousy flared through him.
So she'd willingly spend time with this demon and not him? What was it with Fallon and demons? It was always a fucking demon.
A large hand clasped his shoulder.
"Fret not my friend. If that's what you're worried about, don't."
If Fallon would give him something clear to cling to, he wouldn't worry. Everything with Fallon was a mixed signal.
I want you but I won't have you. I find you attractive but I won't act on it. I'll choke on your dick but that changes nothing.
"It's hard not to."
"There's absolutely nothing between Cas and Fallon," Claudio pushed. "I think both parts would sooner swallow razor blades than explore anything with each other."
"Knowing Fallon she's probably fucking into that." And if she was, he'd eat it up.
"They bicker like children. I assure you, there's no need to worry."
Now he worried more since that was the exact same thing Seth did with the walking mixed signal.
"If anything, they'd view each other as siblings. Even that would be under duress."
Gods, he hoped so. This jealousy wasn't something he could see himself getting used to.
Following a nod from Claudio, he made his way over, curious and terrified of how Fallon would react to seeing him.
He took a deep breath and bit the bullet.
Work with Caspian. Always the dreaded days of her life. Fallon liked to call the shots. As her own boss, she didn't do the whole swapping leadership skit all too well. In that regard, she and the demon were the same.
Caspian took orders from his King, sure, but that was professional demon business. Beyond being the General, Cas led his own misfit crew of mercenaries. Working with Caspian was always a game of butting heads—though neither of them could deny the necessity.
"Realistically, if we're thinking about this logically, she's being held in Triumph," Caspian said, rocking back on his chair as he thought.
"And for a multitude of reasons, we can't go there, invade and take her back."
Fallon might've been good but charging into warlock territory was plain stupid. She couldn't fight dark magic. No one could.
"Not unless you know how to work around dark magic and access a separate pocket of existence," Cas said.
