Typically, after giving a woman the best orgasm of her life, Seth assumed she'd be warm and sweet on him. But not Fallon. She'd gone stiff after their shower, dressing in silence. There was a guiltiness about her features. A shamefulness he couldn't place. A shame in herself. She still wouldn't tell him what it was that bothered her. He knew it was something from her past. Maybe a bad relationship. Whatever it was, they were getting over it sooner or later. She couldn't keep pushing him away like this.
I'm too clingy for this distance.
He had to admit he was hard to trust. With his reputation, getting her to see things his way was made even harder. Only he'd be damned if he ever gave up.
He followed her through Claudio's castle towards the dining room.
"Is everything alright with you Fal?" He asked, reaching for her hand. He'd clasped their fingers together before she could try to pull away.
"Everything's fine. Why do you ask?"
"I don't know. It just seems like you're pulling away."
"I'm not."
Lies. She did this every time they were intimate- be that emotionally or physically. Anytime they were honest. Each time they seemed closer, she pushed back more.
"I hope so," He murmured. He'd been getting attached. "My binds aren't as bright anymore."
"After Runealm?"
"Yep. Since I helped you for you and not me, I take it that acts as redemption."
She forced out a smile. "One step further away from eternal imprisonment."
"Not sure I'd say that." He gave her a pointed look. "You have me bound."
I'll take Fallon over the stone Gods any day.
They'd reached the dining room before she could dignify that with a response. Caspian sat at the table already, pigging out on fire fruit. Meg and Claudio were at the other end of the table, speaking quietly to each other. All heads turned at their entrance. When they scented the air, Fallon's body stiffened.
Hormones raging, it was obvious what they'd just done.
"Sleep well?" Cas asked, smirking obnoxiously.
Fallon sighed, taking her seat at the table. "Cram it demon boy. Claudio. Meg."
The latter smiled softly. The King was too busy with his food to pay them any mind.
As Seth slipped into the seat beside her, Caspian cocked an eyebrow. "Good morning start?"
"Seriously Cas. Stop talking," She hissed.
Before Cas could antagonise her any further, Meg jumped in with a, "Claudio always orders too much food. It's his thing."
"No worries," Seth said. "I've already had breakfast—but I've got an insatiable appetite."
Come on Fal— give me something.
The Amazon drove her elbow into his ribs. When he chuckled, she shot him a glare. Her eyes spoke a thousand words.
One more word tracker. I dare you.
"How did your crew respond to yesterday's conversation?" She asked, changing the subject.
"They're ready to be put to work," Cas said. "What are you up to today?"
"We're heading out to Morio's to see if we can find any leads from her job. I'll report my findings back in about a week."
