That Afternoon

I woke up in a different place than I was used to but soon remembered that this is the same room I had stayed in that night, but I thought to myself, how did I get up here all I remembered when I got in the truck was us driving then me crying and then nothing. I got up and slowly walked down the stairs after finishing my morning routine and walk into the kitchen seeing nobody in there figuring they are in the dining room, and I grab a glass and fill it to the brim with coffee and start drinking it without creamer trust me I would prefer it with creamer and sugar but today felt like a straight kind of day.

As I was leaning against the counter looking down at the coffee in my cup, I felt a body brush up against my back and. By the woodsy smell of the cologne, I could tell it was Grayson and I glance to my left and then to my right seeing both of his arms caging me in and him sitting his cup down on the counter pouring him some in his cup and I felt his body come closer until his front was against my back and he whispered in my ear,

G--"Why are you in here all by yourself?" I felt myself getting wet for some reason, it could be because I can feel his whole body against mine. I cleared my throat and said quietly,

A--"I-I was about to come in the d-dining room I had just p-poured myself c-coffee" I stuttered nervous having him this close to me again

G--"Do I make you nervous?"

A--"This close yes" I felt his breath against my neck and my eyes shut and my lips parted when we heard a door open and it was his dad,

Grayson walked in right as I began eating. G--"Are you okay?" I looked up and I felt one single tear fall down my face when I looked around seeing everyone looking at me with concerned faces.

A--"I am fine everyone I just had bad memories show up that is all, Liam finish up here then we will read a book, then you can play, okay?" He nods and smiles at me then continues eating, while I look at everyone else gave them a smile then stood up with my plate walking into the kitchen, I walked over to the trash and threw away my little bit of food I had on my plate after losing my appetite when I thought of Kennys mean words. I heard Grayson say right beside me.

G--"What happened to you out there?"

A--"Just some bad memories that is all."

G--"What brought them up?"

A--"Whenever you are close, or look at me for too long I go right back to that afternoon we did stuff together and I know that it meant nothing so when I think of it as nothing this Kenny said to me for a long time pop up in my head, I will be fine" with that I walked out not letting his get the chance to talk about it and when I walked out of the kitchen I see Liam sitting down at the table they have in their living room already working on his stuff that we do once since he is going to be going to school this coming August.

A--"Are you ready?"

L--"Yep look Mommy I have already started."

A--"Good job honey" I say as I sit down on the floor beside him and I happen to look up and see Grayson leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed looking at us with an emotionless face on, I just looked back and start helping with Liam, even if I kept drifting in and out of thinking about our afternoon.
